DS214se NAS
« on: February 21, 2014, 10:07:59 AM »
Hello ,

Could you please give me some advice regarding the DS214se synology product.
The product will be used for storage of music , 1080p movies and also 3diso files.
   I will stream to a med600x3d box.
This NAS is enough for my needs or do I need a more advanced one ?
  CPU:800Mhz, RAM:256

Many thanks in advance

See if you can use NFS (UDP, 32K rsize) protocol with your DS214se NAS.

For low bit rate content SMB streaming is enough, but if you plan to use high bit rate content such as Blu-ray ISO or remux then NFS is a must have protocol, because it has the most throughput in Mede8er implementation.

I am using a DS212j to store my movie collection. Its fast enough for my med8er 600x3d to read and play 1080p movies and 3D movies.

Is this NAS enough for streaming Bluray Remux files (20-40GB) ?
