Finally, some good news for UHD Blu-ray format. BDA has issued an official statement on the new standard.

It remains to  be seen if the current h265 chip implementations are complient with the 4k spec.   We've seen it before..early adopters finding they have been  ripped  off because the final disk  or TV standard differs form the one the hardware makers "assumed" would be used.

Far better to  wait for chips which  explicity state support for the new standard, and where designed for it and tested to it.

I totally agree with you. It is necessary to define many other things. For now it is certain that we have a new standard for HDMI (ver. 2.0) and digital copy protection HDCP (ver. 2.2). Also, the new HDMI version will include HFR and HDR as part of the standard.

You shouldn't expect them to use bd quality copy protection. This is a chance for them to add copy protection which couldn't be retro fitted to bd.

That doesn't mean the like of slysoft will give up......

for now, the BDA has defined the basic encryption (HDCP 2.2) which must be implemented in the new HDMI standard (2.0) everything else is unconfirmed speculation. BDA is only responsible for the parameters of 4K Blu-ray.

Blu-ray discs 4k are now a reality.
I'm waiting for a new product mede8er that supports 4K more precisely HEVC.
but if it takes a long time I have to go to the nvidia shield console.

And you found something to rip them? You need a 4k Bd player in a PC, that dosn't stop you ripping. The whole ripping technology is yet to arrive.

East if you carefully my post my interest is not in 4k but the new HEVC format.
I do not have TV 4k.
I am interested in HEVC 1080p to convert my movies in x265 and there are already many torrents movies in x265.

(translated by google translator Pt to Eng).

If you are only interested in HEVC then get one of the cheap arm players out there. Your post implied that Med8er would have a h265 player once 4k bd disks could be ripped. That is a long way off yet due to AACS 2.0, and by then too many potential customers will already have a £50 player off amazon/ebay/alibaba.

Sometimes leaving your previous profits in the bank is the best option. Mede8er won't do an A C Ryan, and keep building players that can't compete with dumped Chinese players, thus going bust. They made the mistake of up going up market just as most potential customers decided a £50 Arm based player would do very nicely....

I have a Mede8er 800 and have recently added an Open Hour Chameleon. The OHC works very well through Kodi with HEVC content. The passthrough for audio also is great with ATMOS and DTS-X. I run both units depending on what I want to watch.

I had my Av dealer come over to last week he informed me that he just got back From Norway and was telling me about the exhibition for dealers about the new BARCO projectors from the budget end £5,000 plus!!! to the top ones which go  into cinemas which come with  refrigeration units because the laser lighting gets so hot. But what Barco where also saying is about 4k. they said most of 4k is shot in 2K and then made into 4K so it is not true 4K and that is what most of the 4K blu rays. I think it will be a passing phase as 8K is just around the corner
