The update in the setup menu actually does work. But also using a USB stick. If you put the firmware on the USB and insert it, and then select the option it will detect the image, verify and ask you whether you want to update. If you confirm, the player reboots and starts the update. The only difference with the emergency procedure seems to be the configuration is not changed. All settings are retained as far as I can tell.

Does this procedure give correct results? Why is this procedure not mentioned?  Anybody having some inside knowledge here?

BTW: If you put the firmware on an SD card, the firmware update option in setup does recognize. But after you confirm and the mede8er boots, it can't find the image and does not update. Bit inconsistent. Seems the update process only supports USB.

Tested with MED600X3D 3.0.2, 3.0.6 and 3.0.7 Beta firmware.
