- How is the Hard Disk supposed to be organized, to make the most out of "mede8er" ?

Do You put all the files in the root directory.

Or do You make Folders for Music, Photo's, Movies.

I don't find a recommondation for that.

Are the specific suggestions for .mp3 Tags ??

Thanks,

EFBE

It looks more neater and easier to navigate if you creat folders for music, videos etc.
If & when a FW updates that supports password lock for folders is release, then it would also be more easier to protect a particular folder with many files in it.

Oke a little example of how i organize my NAS

Three main Folders to Know

A music
B photo
C movies

Then i made a subfolder for music on Artist

so example Music .... Beatles .....
                                                              Help
                                                              Revolver
                                                              Magical Mystery Tour

and in that folder ofcourse the music numbers Smiley

for movies i dit it the same way but for a TV serie i dit it this way

Movies ...... flikken Maastricht .......Seizoen 1
                                                            Seizoen 2
                                                             Seizoen 3
                                                                                 Disk 1
                                                                                 Disk 2

And for photos the same way if it is for more days in a vacation or subject !

Easy and Clean this way , later i must investegate Jamj on the Mede8er with covers, first filling the NAS

Eddy
Sorry dit is een Engelstalig forum  !!

I wanted to do this the same way,but there always comes a serial numbers before the map name !!
Do you have the same problem and what can I do about it ? can i just delete these numbers and keep only the map name ?
(the windows way ? )

in short...
The digits represents the date starting by the year....

Yes Guys,

You are right.
This will happen only when using filemanager and creating a new folder over there.
The filemanager will pre-fill the name field with the date (date is only correct current date when you have setup time and are connected to the internet now and then).

If you don't like the prefill, just use arrow left to erase it on the input line.

Regarding how I organised my NAS:

- Movies........
                      Genre (e.g. Thriller,).............
                                            Horror................
                                            Action................
                                                                       Movie Name1
                                                                       Movie Name2
- Music..........
                     Artist Name 1.....................
                     Artist Name 2.....................
                                                                   Album Name1
                                                                   Album Name2

With the Genre folder structure it will be a little more easy to find the right movie if your collection is growing.

Regarding to folder names I use the following:
moviename (year), so e.g. Avatar (2009),  How to Train Your Dragon (2010) etc

Using this structure and naming will really help you when you start to use YAMJ to Mede8er to generate nice fanart and scraping pictures within your movie folders.

Maasbommel

Does the Mede8er not create the three folders automatically? (Music Photos Video)?

No, you have to create them yourself. Just as you need to do on a harddisk in a PC.
The tabs on top are only filter tabs.

Hi everyone.

I'm using FTP access to Mede8er to make folders.
I suggest following structure (sort is is the reason for such numbering):
01 Movies
   01 - DIVX
   02 - DVD
   03 - HD
02 Music
  01 - MP3
  02 - DVD
  03 - LP
03 Pictures
...

Is het mogelijk om nadat je een map aangemaakt heb met filemanager, je laptop te koppelen aan de mede8er en dan meteen bestanden in de aangemaakte map te plaatsen?

Yes, or just make the folders when you connected the mede8er by usb to your PC with explorer.
Just as you would do on a normal usb disk.

For some guys, and i'm betwen them, it will be really annoying.
Many will delete those folders... Look at phones FS that have predestinated folders, are patches that just remove those folders.
Anyone is free to organise his own files by his criteria.

In my case i use
Movies
Music- videoclips + etc
Pictures

...the rest is in my head...
External disks have partitions with same criteria...

Organise is done for fast search and easy browsing...
More words are useless...

hi all, once i create my main folders, music, movies, photos etc, can i copy my entire i tunes media folder into the music folder and expect that it will transfer with the same folder structure, ie: artist alphabetically and then within the artist folder it sorts the albums by name too, or do i have to create folder by folder for each artist and within those folders each album too ?
