You say you used it with two W7 PC's. But did you configure either of them for workgroup sharing according to the Beginners Guide, and the first post in this Tip?

An X2 has a number of servers you can turn on or off. There is no single "x2" you  might find on the Network. SAmba workgroup (NAS) requires the most settings to be changed on a PC to  work.

1 Laptop is my business laptop which is configured via a domain..
The other is a private network which is member of WORKGROUP and configured according to the settings as described in this thread..
