The scraper doesn't works
« on: December 15, 2024, 06:56:27 PM »
Hello to the community,
For a few days now, the scraper hasn't been working for me on my med600X3D.
Are you experiencing the same issue?

Funny enough, I use YAMJ to scrape and used it yesterday for the first time in many months.
It worked in finding the layout, background picture and box but not the film precis or actors.
Suppose these could be edited in but a pita really.

Don't believe the internal scraper has worked for a very long time. The Mede8er is now very old  ... I'm grateful for the incomplete scraping I get from YAMJ [third party software] and cannot imagine anyone working on the scraping issues to improve them.

What scraper are you using?

I use the scraper of the MED600.
But for a week now, it doesn't seem to work for movies anymore.

Only a week? You are lucky ... the scraper in my 800 stopped working years ago and I was kinda forced to look at alternatives. Ended up with YAMJ.

Hi,

Same here, internal scrapper stopped working a couple weeks ago...

Just tested TV Rename with mixed results. It scraps far more info then needed and have to adjust a couple things by hand (add rating and rename file extension), then let the internal scrapper create the about.jpg. Other than that, seems far better than to do it all by hand.

As with the others, a couple of weeks and no internal scrapper.
I had to learn to work with yaDIS, -didn't manage to make Yadis2mede8er work, couldn't get into its philosophy-  ::) and then tinker with renaming file names in order for the Mede8er to see the files 'correctly'.

Does TVRename work with movies or just series?

It would be great if someone in the know could do their magic to bring the scrapper in shape again!!!!!
Faithful wishes!!!!

Hello,
Thank you for your messages. This clearly confirms a change or a bug in the MED.

Most of the Yadis links for automatically scraping files for Mede8er are obsolete.
Here is the information I’ve found.

Yadis 2.3
http://www.mediafire.com/download/8f0ybl14ckub6po/yaDIS_2.3.exe

Yadis2mede8er
http://www.mediafire.com/file/9w6mxg886z98p1q/Yadis2mede8er_1_1_280513.7z

Tuto Config Yadis
https://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php?topic=10520.0

Warning: The movie rating must be entered correctly in Yadis 2.3.
Example, 6,881 → 6.9, then apply the modification.
The dot instead of the comma is important in my French version; otherwise, it doesn't work with yadis2mede8er.

My MED600X3D is starting to feel outdated. I'm considering a Zidoo Z9X 8K.

This clearly confirms a change or a bug in the MED.

If I get it right, it is not a bug.

Most probably, there some changes in the layout of the source, where the scrapper collects its information from, (in our case IMDB ???) and so now, the scrapper won't be able to find get the required data to create it's database and be able to show correctly.

All this, put really simplisticly, and we have the problem.
The history shows it can be rectified, when someone knows how to do it and wants to do it.
This is now the problem... to find someone with the above skils...  :-\

Yes, this had already happened with the poster format a few years ago.
After numerous requests, they had eventually updated the firmware of the MEDs.
This time, I’m not too optimistic. That’s why I’ve suggested Yadis.

Hello there, it's not the first time that the internal scraper stopped working,

I believe it's a question of license to get access to tmdb and/or imdb infos database (from the firmware), so we just have to hope that someone from mede8er will renew it and it will work again !

The MovieScraper actually worked perfectly on my Med800X3D until the beginning of December 2024. Now it doesn't work anymore...
A few years ago the same problem existed. Someone from the “Mede8er Team” then renewed the license for the source of the scraping data. Then everything worked again.

Is there still an admin or someone who could renew this license here? :-)

Apart from the scraper problem, the Mede8er has been the best and most stable media player I've ever had for over 10 years now.

Same observation here, on MED1000X3D French MovieScraper worked properly at mid November 2024. Currently, it doesn't work anymore.

Yes I don't wan't to change my media player, the mede8er is sill good for me and working very well apart from the internal scraper.

The only "solution" for now is to use Yadis and Yadis2mede8er.

I started to use it a few days ago. Look for the links a bit higher in this topic and have a try.

Hope there is still the appetite to fix this - tried using Yadis and it has made a real mess of my wall. Covers not updating, film info being deleted and about image being totally messed up.  It’s going to take some time to correct 😟
