Users who prefer other scrapers support for better scraping of non English programming cannot expect that flexibility with the internal scraper. It is wriiten using the API for one source.

This looks very interesting. A few questions to satisfy my curiosity  ;)

- Will this generate about.jpg / cover.jpg or render them on the fly using the xml?
- Will it have support for custom themes? (naturally not the complex ones like thumbgen but something simpler like yadis)
- Since you're working on the interface, will you be fixing the lack of HD graphics for covers/abouts?

Thanks and keep up the good work!

It works no different form an external scraper because the jukebox code is not being changed.   It won't have complex layout tools because the aim is to make this  for those who find the complex scrapers too complex.  This is for them...it's not for the convinience of those who love the complex scrapers and would  like the same internally.

I think this is great.  So many people have been asking for this and though hesistant at first, you are now adding this feature.  This will definitely make the mede8er stand out now that it will be able to do what other streamers already offer.  My friend wants a streamer but isn't that computer savvy.  He would never be able to use an external scraper which was preventing me from recommending him this product.  I was going to set up a wd-live for him.  Not now.

The mede8er is superior in so many ways, but has lacked this feature which makes it simpler for newbiews.  I wouldn't expect any more than what you have pictured via the demo pictures.  For those who are asking for more customization from this feature, I think it is fair for you to keep it simple at this time.  That's the whole purpose of the feature.  Now, being able to do something like that down the road...would be tantalizing, but not expected right now.

Now if you could just make upgrading the firmware simpler to not require a computer (as some of the other streamers), I would recommend the mede8er wholeheartedly to anyone and everyone.

Well done on listening to the users!

One more thing.   I like the simple straightforward layout.  Many of the custom layouts out there can be hard to read (mainly the description).  While I would love to see a black text on white background for a more readable description (which I don't think I've seen anywhere else), this looks pretty good...only rivaled by the yadis layout.

Just one simple request...could you please, please add the rating of the movie (R, PG-13, etc.).  I would also love to be able to filter and if possible, be able to lock down certain ratings.  When my younger brother in-law comes over, I don't really want to watch anything over PG-13.  Even just having this label in the main page would keep me from having to look it up.

O.k...one more (not so simple) request.  I know this is a long shot...I prefer Rottentomatoes over IMDB.  To add that as a selection would be marvelous.  I know that's a bit much to ask for as you are keeping this simple, but I can shoot for the moon even if I probably won't hit it, right?  I simply can't get Rottentomatoes to work with YAMJ !!

I think black on white looks horrible. This white on semi transparent looks very stylish and it should be exactly as it is now. It's a bit like Y2M (well, much like Y2M, if I'm being honest) but far less cluttered. I love it.

Will it also be possible to show information about the movie file? I mean stuff like codec (xvid, h264, ...), resolution (1080p, 720p, ...) or audio stream (DTS, AC3, ...).

Gooood idea, this built in movie scraper (I think language will be, by default the same as for menus?)

Is it possible to display length of the movie (on first screen, without pressing any touch). This is an important thing to choose (or not) starting to watch a movie, specially for non geeks ;-)

Thanks for this new feature!

I have to disagree.  It is widely known that black on white is one of the most readable styles.  Just look at this website (and just about any other)...readable due to the black on white. or off-white or some other light color.  White text can get very lost on a semi-transparent picture, especially on certain pictures depending on how light the background is.  Just look at the screenshot on the second post of the first page of this thread...sure the bad resolution amplifies the effect, but I've seen so many themes that have this color scheme for the text and theyhave a lot of trouble making it clearly readable.  Black on white can be set up in a very stylish way if you do it right.  I've seen it done on one of the templates out there, and it was both extra readable and stylish.

Just a quick request from me. I currently use YADIS and it is very good, but my one bug bear on it is no sagas (boxsets), which would tidy my wall up no end. This would be a great addition to the internal scarper.

Thanks

This first generation internal scraper just replicates what  an  external one does. You can't change what  the scraper does without first changing what jukebox does. Changes to jukebox are not part of this development.
