Mede8er beginners guide (firmware version 2.0.2) (this is a first attempt, a 'living/growing' document)
[TV SYS] Switch through the available Mede8er video modes, e.g. when you get no output on the screen (black screen/blank screen).
[BROWSER] Will bring you to the Select Source option menu of the Media Library menu.
[COPY] Will bring you to the File Manager menu.
[MUSIC] TBD
[INFO] During movie play: Pressing 1, 2 or 3 times give you: 1x: gives movie filename, running time, total time and file size 2x: gives video codec info, resolution, frame rate and audio codec info 3x: gives WIFI signal strength (only when wireless connection is available) During music play: Pressing toggles hiding the music player During picture play: Presssing 1x: picture name 2x: picture details
[0..9] During movie play: Skips to the position of time in the movie (input in minutes). When only pressing a number once, it will show the time-bar. When typing a number twice (see left corner figure coming up), play will skip to the position in minutes. During music play: Moves the cursor to the audio file in the folder list. When browsing in Media Library: Pressing a figure will skip to the file or folder in the list. E.g. when typing 20 it will bring you to the 20st file or folder in the list.
[REPEAT] During movie play and music play: As for random playback, use the REPEAT button on the remote to toggle through options: repeat 1 file, repeat all files, and random playback (an X-like symbol).
[GOTO] During movie play and music play: The GOTO button on the remote brings up the GOTO navigation menu on the top of the screen - pressing the UP and DOWN buttons on the remote will change the minute value by one at a time. Pressing ENTER on the remote jumps the movie to the minute value but leaves the GOTO menu on-screen, awaiting further input (in the event that you are not yet at the right place). The LEFT and RIGHT navigation buttons will change between the following adjustment options: TIME, CHAPTER (embedded within DVDs and MKVs) and TITLE (other movies within selected folder). These fields will also accept numeric input. If you are happy with the movie position then press either GOTO again or the RETURN button to exit.
[ << ] and [ >> ] During movie play and music play: The most obvious is to use the REWIND (<<) & FAST FORWARD (>>) buttons on the remote. Speeds of 1.5X, 2X, 4X, 8X, 16X & 32X are available. Note that the Navigation Buttons also perform RW and FF functions during movie play, except while playing DVDs (IFO or ISO files) as these keys are then required to perform other menu navigation functions.
[ - (vol) ] and [ + (vol) ] During movie play and music play: Increase/decrease sound volume. When Amp is connected this buttons only work on Amp connected by Analog or HDMI cable. For SPDIF connected Amp you have to use the volume buttons on your Amp.
[ > (play) ] and [ [] (STOP) ] Start and stop playing your selected media file.
[ |<< ] and [ >>| ] During movie play and music play and picture play: Skips to the previous or next media file in the same folder. When browsing in Media Library: Skips back/forward to prev/next page in a folder when there are more folders then fit on the screen.
[ ^ (HOME) ] Returns you to the Mede8er home screen.
[ X (RETURN) ] During movie play and music play and picture play: Stops playing your media file When browsing in Media Library or menu: Returns to upper level in folder or menu.
[ arrow keys (navigation buttons) ] General purpose: For navigation throught the menus and folders During movie play and music play and picture play: Left/right arrow: same function as << and >> buttons. Up/down arrow: same function as volume buttons
[ OK, button in middle of the arrows] General purpose: To confirm a (menu) option. When browsing in Media Library: To enter a folder one level down.
[MENU] When browsing in Media Library or during music play: Pressing when on a file or folder brings you a submenu to rename or delete a file or folder. During DVD folder play: Shows the DVD menu (only if one is embedded in the DVD structure).
[SETUP] Brings you to the setup menu.
[ || (PAUSE/STEP) ] Pause and step function during movie play and music play.
[ |> (SLOW) ] During movie play: Pressing the SLOW (|>) button on the remote slows down movie play to 3/4, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 speeds. When browsing in Media Library: Zooms in on picture (when available) on the right side in the preview window next to the folder you have highlighted. Common use to zoom in on about.jpg picuters that are e.g. created with a scraper like TvXIE or YAMJ.
[ A-B ] During movie play: Should you wish to repeat a particular scene over and over again, the A-B function will replay that selected scene. Simply press the A-B button once to mark the start of the scene you wish to repeat (A) and again to mark the end (B) - that selected scene will repeat until stopped with a third press of the A-B button.
[ ANGLE ] During movie play: Used when playing a dvd with multi-angle scenes to switch to the different angle views.
[ <- (INS REPLAY) ] and [ -> (CM SKIP) ] During movie play: If you wish to skip through intros or ad-breaks then the Skip function is available which allows one to jump forward 30 seconds per press. If you went too far the the REPLAY button on the remote jumps back 10 seconds per press
[ (+) (ZOOM IN) ] AND [ (-) (ZOOM OUT) ] During movie play: Zoom in and out on a movie. During picture play: Zoom in on a picture (only + button is available for this.
[SELECT] and [CONFIRM] When browsing in Media Library: Used to select file to add to a playlist. When finished selecting, use confirm button to save. When in Internet Radio Station folder: Press select button on your remote to add a station to the Internet Radio Favourite section.
[AUDIO] During movie play: Browse through the available sound tracks of a movie.
[SUBTITLE] During movie play: Pressing opens a sub menu with subtitle options. Available subtitle options are depending on the movie file type. Browse through the subtitle menu with the left/right navigation buttons. Toggle the subtitle options with the up/down navigation buttons. Confirm with OK button or return button.
