Med800x3d fan is very quiet as we use special fan mounts and the fan has some electronic control that turns down the rpm about 30 sec after boot up.

The 500x2 case is not plastic!  It's "bent" steel like the 600.   I'm pointing out that a lot effort of effort went in to making the more substantial "cast"  alumimium case of the 1000 fanless by making the huge, heavy case a heatsink.  The demand for a fansless disk hosting device was one reason behind that design. Otherwise the hot 1186 chip and a hard drive will need a fan.

Good morning Jer,
that's nice to know since it is not mentioned explicitely on the website.
The chipset is the same with the RTD1186 like in the X6003D, right? Then it has a Sony Pro Duo Card Slot - who has this?
This seems to be a cooperation between Sanji & Sony like the function of BD-lite?
The facelift is cool and together with the price and support a real alternative to the Himedia 900/910b now.
Are 2,5 and 3,5" internal hard drives supported?
Mede8er model and used firmware version: MED600X3D no Wifi Firmware 3.0.5 Beta
Internal hard disk: No
Type of network: CAT5 / Devolo DLAN/Power-LAN 200 mBit/s (with Wifi module)
Networked devices: PC Windows 7 64bit streaming to Mede8er, LaCie Cinema HD via SMB, FRITZ!Box 6360 Cable
Android device brand and model: Sony Xperia S
Android max screen resolution: 720x1280
Android version: 4.1.2

3.5 inch SATA slot which means that a 2.5 inch will fit with a conversion bracket and with a conversion sata connector.

This is a mode that puts the player into sleep but keeps network up to respond to the net api command, so a tablet app can switch it on again.

Thank you Bommel, this is an aspect I worry about with my 600X3D. With every PC and MED restart the Samba network connection ist lost which means I cannot find the MED as network drive unless I did not switch Samba mode off and on again??

Do you use app from Apsolute on an ipad?  That is the only that uses this.
Not the normal mede8er remote.

I do not have an Ipad. I just thought when the MED is online it can be found directly in the workgroup of WIn devices.
But Samba is set off every time it seems when the MED is set off.

You must have some specific network configuration issue.
Suggest to check the tip section in the network part of the board:
http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php/board,53.0.html

This is a generic 800X3D topic and your questions are going of topic, please post in the network section to post issues about network issues.

When the MED800X3D was announced, I was very interested.  It seemed like what I was looking for.  Yesterday I contacted Media Concepts and asked when it would start shipping and what the price would be.  Their response was:

"Currently, there is no plan to carry the med800X3D.

Regard,
MediaConcept"

Has anyone purchased the 800 yet?  If so how has the performance been so far.  Is there a way to get this in the US since MediaConcept isn't going to carry it?
