Hello,
I see the new 800 has been announced :) very nice.

I was just comparing the specs with the 600 model, and aside from the obvious internal HDD, was wondering what else was different?
I see there's support for a single USB 3.0 slave, and "Co-Ax Digital" output.

Anything else different?

And whats different when compared to the 1000, apart from the styling?  I much prefer the style of the 600 and 800 over the 1000.

So am I. I'm really curious to know what are the differences between the 800 and the 1000.

I should have known. :( The features of the 1000 with the form factor of the 600. This is wanted when I purchased my 600 a month ago. I don't suppose there will be a trade-in program?

MED800X3D will be available in Europe from 1 June 2013. Don't know for the other areas.

So am I. I'm really curious to know what are the differences between the 800 and the 1000.

They look to have very similar specs, the 800 has coax output and only one USB input. Also has a conventional case as opposed to the 1000 'rugby ball' oval shape. Uses same firmware.

If they were both available a couple months back then I would have gone for the 800 due to its front controls in my cabinet.

Obviously there must be a need for coax output but surely most users only need HDMI? Maybe there's a place for a model with HDMI output only, no component video and no optical/coax digital audio output and no analog audio output. This would reduce manufacturing costs a bit I would assume, meaning lower cost to users.

Only the blue port is usb 3.0, and that's for slave mode.

so hardware seems to be the same as 1000X3

One question that stay unknown, is the price also the same ?

edit : seen the price : even cheaper than 1000X3, a real bargain imho.

Anyone who knows what it takes to remove / insert the hd?
Any screwdrivers involved or is it more like hot swapping with no faffing about with tools or anything?

Looks like the 500 series case, so yes, screws involved.

Now there is a reason why we still don't have FW 2.0 for MED600X3D
:(

Bearing in mind the number of beta releases it looks like EOL soon for the 600X3D as they will surely re-shift developers to a new toy.
Same story as with other players I used to own - KISS DP1600, eGREAT (3 models), Popbox V8.

(Removed by mod. Saying what you would buy instead is not within the forum rules. That's basically SPAM for a competing product)

Perhaps you should understand the product range a little better.  All X3D models use the same firmware...and the software engineers aren't involved the design of cases so it has been no destraction to  them.

If you have kept track of the Public Betas you  will have seen the on going progress being made towards a new firmware for ALL x3d models. Many are already enjoying those improvements because they don't feel limited to only using Release Versions.

The new 800X3D looks better to me on first sight but what is the box material like?
Besides that it looks to have a fan which is a no go for me. Is this true?
