Thanks for this great tool. Any solutions for DIV3 files yet besides reencoding?

If you have a Windows Network, you can attach the networkdrive within windows and then use the Drive Letter: eg: D:\ or E:\ etc.

Hello All

First of all I must start by saying I am not a "Techie" therefore hope you will bare with me ....

I need to change the codec on the vast majority of my media files to XVID and have kindly been sent the link to the FourCC program however unfortunately I am struggling to understand how to use it ...(see above). Is there anybody out there who would be kind enough to provide an idiot  guide for me? I have my media stored on an external 3tb drive and would say that about 85% of it has been converted to AVI DIVX ...... it's a big problem

Hope somebody can help and thanks for reading

When you connect your external drive to your Windows PC there will be a drive letter assigned to it: e.g.: D:\ or E:\
This is the "Start Pfad" in the window which you open by starting the Lupos_FourCC.exe.

The Lupos_FourCC.ini for just scanning your files and indicating in the listing of Lupos_FourCC.txt which files are using what Four_CC, should look like this:

StartDir = E:\
Endungen = AVI, MKV
suchen   = DIVX, DX50
ersetzen = ; XVID  ; kein Ersetzen = nur Liste  << ; befor XVID
Protokoll überschreiben = FALSE

To replace the Four_CC it should be:

StartDir = E:\
Endungen = AVI, MKV
suchen   = DIVX, DX50
ersetzen = XVID
Protokoll überschreiben = FALSE

You terminate the program by using [ESC] and [Enter]

Hi

I gave this a go and unfortunately still no joy. I think I am doing something which is very basic wrong. This is what I did:

1) opened .ini file and changed the location to E:\media (my external drive and file location)
2) ran the main program
3) entered E:\media\films (folder to be scanned)
4) entered to run the scan
5) escaped then enter to end the program

Tried the external drive again tonight on the media player and the files that were divx still are saying are unsupported format. I think it's me being stupid but what am I doing wrong?

Whether anything was changed you can see in the Lupos_FourCC.txt protocol. I assume you used the ini with "ersetzen = XVID" and not with "ersetzen = ; XVID"  which only gives a list of potential files to be changed.
Can you check, whether those files are DIV3 , which is NOT divx and not compatible with the xvid codec. There is no solution for those files other than reencoding the movies.

Hi Lupissimo

Thanks for your assistance you're very kind

The codec is definateley DIVX as I have checked the software used to transfer from DVD. Everything else you asked me to check is also fine however I can't find the information on whether the files have been altered ...... the list I can see has the test default listing (G:\movies etc) not any of my files. Does this suggest my files have been converted or that like an idiot I'm looking in the wrong place?

Hi Lupissimo

Can you confirm that the Lupos_FourCC.txt protocol is the 7th folder down. If so this is not showing any of my changes once i've ran the scan

Just to be sure the program finds anything do the following : Rename the 2 files "Lupos_FourCC.txt" and "Lupos_FourCC_ini_und_Protokoll.txt" so that new ones are created. Then you should run the program with "ersetzen = ; XVID" in the ini file. That way the program just lists your files without changing anything. Then just post a couple of lines of the Lupos_FourCC.txt files, so we can see whether any files were found at all.

By the way: To start the program after you have opened the command window by double clicking on the .exe file, you have to hit [Enter].

Hi Lupissimo

Here is a copy of the Lupos_FourCC.INI screenshot

 StartDir = F:\
Endungen = AVI
suchen   = DIVX,DX50
ersetzen = XVID  ; kein Ersetzen = nur Liste
Protokoll überschreiben = FALSE

F:\   is my drive address

Here is a copy of a couple of lines of the Lupos_FourCC.TXT after the scan of the F:\ has been scanned

XVID/XVID ->    dto.      G:\MOVIES\MOVIES OVERIGE TEST\17 Again (2009)\nedivx-17again.avi
XVID/XVID ->    dto.      G:\MOVIES\MOVIES OVERIGE TEST\4 Music videos\Pink Floyd - Pulse (1994)\Pink Floyd - Pulse 1994.Concierto.avi
XVID/XVID ->    dto.      G:\MOVIES\MOVIES OVERIGE TEST\40 Days & 40 Nights\40 Days & 40 Nights.avi
H264/H264 ->    dto.      G:\MOVIES\MOVIES OVERIGE TEST\5 Series\Chicago Fire\Season 1\Chicago Fire S01E01.avi

As you can see it hasn't listed any of my files but retained the test listing .....
