Before Buying
« on: February 26, 2013, 08:21:02 pm »
I have been looking for NAS for a couple of months ,and have concluded the Synology is about the best.
The DS412+ has taken my eye ,although a little expensive, I have bought  the 4 2TB hard drives, the question I have is will I need to spend additional money on a route the one I have now is DLS-2740B Dlink , I want to stream to my Mede8er boxes via hard wiring (cat5/6) which is already installed.

Is there any further advice before I spend thick end of £500?

Have a look at the Dlink DNS-345 Sharecentre™ (QUATTRO NETWORK STORAGE ENCLOSURE)
I've got this hooked up to my X3 via cat 5/6 through Dlink 24 port switch.
Got my shortcuts mapped directly to the unit, super fast!
I get copy to speed of 25 to 30 MB per sec and copy from speed of 55 to 75 MB per sec.
Really has load of features as well.

2 x Mede8er 1000X3D (V3 FW) networked to 56 tb server, Yamaha RX V1800 with Jamo 6.1 sound system, LG 60" (3D), Sony Bluray player, Planar projector.
