I gave it another try: I used a Folder (Filmbackup) containing the moviefolders(about,folder,movie,xml) on the PC running your program and set up a folder Jukebox on a different drive on the same PC.
This is the jukebox.xml:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<MyMovies2Mede8er>
  <jukebox>
    <jukebox_id>1</jukebox_id>
    <jukebox_path>D:\Jukebox</jukebox_path>
    <criteria>
      <days>0</days>
    </criteria>
  </jukebox>
  <filmshare>
    <filmshare_id>1</filmshare_id>
    <filmshare_path>E:\</filmshare_path>
    <mede8er_filmshare_path>smb://192.168.178.23/Filmbackup</mede8er_filmshare_path>
  </filmshare>
  <lastscanned>22.02.2013 17:17:40</lastscanned>
</MyMovies2Mede8er>

when I press Create Jukebox I hear diskaccess noise but the Jukebox Folder stays empty.

I would have expected within the Jukbox Folder : moviefolder1(about,folder,xml) etc.

Any idea what I am doing wrong?

@Mede8er1 - done.

@Lupissimo - have you tried setting the Movies To Process option to all?
In addition the program logic first looks for folders containing an about.jpg when it finds one it then looks at the XML files within those directories to see if they are a Mede8er compatible file. It maybe worthwhile you posting one of your films XMLs (add it as a file to your post) for me to look at. My testing has largely been around files generated by MyMovies so if you are using a different scraper it could be something in that is upsetting the logic I use to check for a valid XML file.

Thanks

I can see the problem straight away. The XML file has a different structure from the ones that I am using, so the program doesn't pass it as a valid XML file for the Mede8er.

There is not a <details> tag encompassing the movie tag. It also has various tags in it that are not used by the mede8er such as gueststars and release date. The actors and genre tags are also done differently from how I understand Mede8er to work.

I'm not familiar with Thumbgen but is the above generated from something that says it is using a template for the Mede8er?

Yes, it is used by a number of people to create all the files required for mede8er. I use the xml to create the mede8er.db.

Can you try searching by genre on your setup as the genres in your file are different from the ones that I've used so I'm curious whether that works. I'll have to take a look at Thumbgen sometime as that is generating XMLs in a different format from Yadis and MyMovies.

Yes I can search by genre since my mede8er.db can either be created by the mede8er or my own scantool

RobinC, the XML generated by Thumbgen is totally readable by mede8er's firmware: data display is correct and jukebox scan works as expected. I've been using it for a couple of years (still uses it for tv series...) and never had a single problem with the XML file structure   ;)

I'm going to have a look into it but the fact remains the XML file is a different structure. Whilst I can probably adapt the program to take into account a different structure this does give me a few concerns. I chose specifically to validate the XML file as my own movie directories contain XML files for MyMovies and Mediabrowser so I need to be sure that I am using the correct file before I start copying it and amending it. For the most part the structure of the supplied file underneath the <movie> tag is suitable. I am curious about genres though as that is definitely different. It would be worth someone pointing me in the direction a Mede8er profile that people use with Thumbgen.

I can upload a "rared" mede8er.tgp. It is attached

Maybe you can offer a switch for "Thumgen data only"

Thanks - I'll have a look at this sometime over the weekend. I'm sure it's possible to loosen up the logic for the validation but I don't want to loosen it too much as I'll potentially end up working on the wrong XML file. Unfortunately quite a few of the XML files intended for different devices tend to be very similar in nature.

Like you say Lupissimo I may include a setting whereby the user can indicate what scraper they've used
