Is there a way to accomplish showing the coverart when a folder is selected and when going into the folder showing the film-description stored in another .jpg automatically?

Right now I have to select the .jpg with rendered film-description manually.
Would need Mede8er to not only picking 1st .jpg but make his choice by looking at the name of the file I guess.

I recently installed Media Browser on my PC. Is there a way that the covers, and movie information could be displayed on my Mede8er preview screen?

Hi mysticc,

Already answered in MPCClub:

We'll look at ways of fine-tuning this later on - it makes sense to be able to render them in the manner you have described. We'll have to establish a naming standard to accomplish this though - hopefully one that is already considered a 'standard' so that one doesn't have to maintain multiple files for different media players.

Me too.
Will focus on this forum for Mede8er-talk.

In Movie Gui Builder you can define how the files are namend that are created, so any name-definition of Mede8er would work with this SW.

Any quasi-standard that matches most of the SW for that purpose out there? - I am not aware right now.

Personally I like to look at XBMC because much discussion takes place in their forums as to the pros and cons of the various standards.
They have come a long way and it seems silly to re-invent the wheel...

As a general rule though we are using 'about.jpg' as the name for the movie synopsis JPG, with the possibility of using 'folder.jpg' for the folder cover-art.

Perhaps we need to start a thread to discuss this topic in it's own right rather than use the Software links thread...

Sounds like a plan Smiley

I'm using the Mede8or and my old trusty TViX M-4100SH to stream all my HD media files. But since the 4100 only has a standard def GUI, I will be obliged to redo all my cover art and movie info jpg's, as it looks really crappy on the Mede8or, especially the cover art (please note: NOT the mede8or's fault ofcourse Wink GIGO-principle: Garbage In, Garbage Out  Grin)

As about.jpg and tvix.jpg are two separate files, I see no problems with that, both mediaplayers can work with their 'own' movie info formats.
But they both will take the folder.jpg as cover art. And then I'm a bit screwed, bigger/higher resolution folder.jpg's will be nice on the Mede8or, but will slow down the tvix dramatically, or not even show.. Small, low-res folder.jpg's will make the tvix fly, but it's low quality will make my eyes water when they are displayed through the Mede8or on my 50" FullHD plasma.

Well, it's not really Mede8or's problem, this specific situation I find myself in, so I don't really expect anyone to take this into account.

Maybe my solution lies in a future firmware where, like on the tvix, we see 10 (or more) icons without preview per page, instead of a list plus preview.
And maybe that way, the small resolution of my 'old' folder.jpg's won't be so obvious (actually, like it is on the tvix now).

Well, thanks for reading Smiley I was actually going to make a point, saying automatically using folder.jpg and about.jpg as naming convention is very good. Can't wait to see it implemented.

I use DVD Shrink for re-authoring and recompressing DVDs. Its old but it works and its free. And now that ver2.0 will play VIDEO_TS folders directly and 1Tb drives grow on trees I just save the vobs straight onto the Mede8эr

Have you considered adding AnyDVDHD from Slysoft? It allows you to strem a disk from the PC (it removes encryption) and also to rip a copy un-encrypted to your hard drive.
