Title: "Watched for Mede8er" Windows context menu-item.
Post by: Nu7s on June 03, 2012, 11:01:07 pm
This file will add a "Watched for Mede8er" menu-item in the context menu that will create a new file with .t extension just like the Mede8er. This way, movies watched on PC can also be marked as "watched" on the Mede8er.

Download
http://www.handsdown.be/i/WatchedForMede8er.rar

Installating:
To install, doubleclick "InstallWatchedForMede8er.reg".

Usage:
To use, right-click on a file and select the "Watched for Mede8er" menu-item. A new file with the .t filetype will be created just like the Mede8er.

Un-installing:
To uninstall, doubleclick "UninstallWatchedForMede8er.reg".

Enjoy!

Thanks for making this tool available for the Mede8er community.
Just gave it its "own" board section under the community tool section.

I want to do the same for creating NFO files on my PC
if the filename is movie.mkv then I want to create a file movie.nfo
on some forums they say you must replace the %1 with %~n1 but then it does not create the file at all
can anybody help me with this?

You need to change:
@="cmd.exe /c echo \"%1\" > \"%1.t\""
to:
@="cmd.exe /c echo \"%1\" > \"%1.nfo\""

(%1 represents the current folder/file name)

But why would you wan to create a blank .nfo file? There are alot of good programs that grab the movie/tvshow's info from various sources and create and fill the nfo file.

Hi
I have found that Y2M does not get all my shows correctly
So I create the nfo file with the imdb link in and then I know that it will fetch the correct movie info for me.

If i have movie named "movie.mkv" and I use the command you recommended then I get "movie.mkv.nfo"
i need it to be "movie.nfo"
@="cmd.exe /c echo \"%1\" > \"%~n1.nfo\"" on the internet there is an article that say %~n1.nfo extract only filename without extension bur it does not work from the registry?

Thanks
Walter

I'm working on a simular sollution to add a <watched> tag in the .nfo file for XBMC. I had to call a separate bach file to do this.

For the registry I use:
@="c:\\Watched\\WatchedEpisode.bat \"%1\""

And in the .bat file:
echo. ^<watched^>true^<^/watched^> >> "%~n1.nfo"

It's not easy, but If you continue you will find a solution.

But, if I may recommend some other software to scan your movies:
http://thumbgen.org/
http://mediacompanion.codeplex.com/

They both need some tweaking of the settings, but Thumbgen works wonders with the mede8er.

Good luck.

Nice...
It's for all extensions, can I make it only for movies?

Sure you can, just add it to the extensions you want instead of * in the registry.

That is not working...I have to use "programextension" instead of *
So that would be a lot of entry's, for each associated program all extensions

I think this is better....

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\video\shell\watched]
@="Watched for Mede8er"
"NoWorkingDirectory"=""
"icon"="%SystemRoot%\\system32\\shell32.dll,-246"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\video\shell\watched\command]
@="cmd.exe /c echo \"%1\" > \"%1.t\""
"IsolatedCommand"="cmd.exe /c echo \"%1\" > \"%1.t\""

And if some are not working...

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.mp4\shell\watched]
@="Watched for Mede8er"
"NoWorkingDirectory"=""
"icon"="%SystemRoot%\\system32\\shell32.dll,-246"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.mp4\shell\watched\command]
@="cmd.exe /c echo \"%1\" > \"%1.t\""
"IsolatedCommand"="cmd.exe /c echo \"%1\" > \"%1.t\""

Is it possible to make it silent, so no black box appears?
Or run a script? (i can make a vbs file but how do I execute it?)
