Title: MED 500X2 problem with M2TS 5.1 file play

Hi, I have a new 500X2 and tried playing a M2TS file that I was able to play on my previous 500X. The file plays very stuttery and skips like it is playing at 1.5X speed. Audio does not play most of the time and it's only about every 10 seconds that you can hear some audio playing very briefly. This file is recorded in 720p through my Hauppauge HD PVR.  Like I said the file plays just fine on my old 500X, so why is it not playing on my new 500X2?  Both players have the latest firmware loaded (500X2=v2.02 and 500=v4.05).

I have uploaded the media file with descriptions to the ftp server as file "jdelport_file_problem_m2ts-5.1.zip" as instructed on the forum.

The 1073 chip was more tolerent...and could fix some incorrect information. In this case the file says it is 50 hz progressive. No way is that true. I remuxed using mkvmerge and forced the file to have a 25 hz FPS. This dosn't transcode...it jsut repackages using corrected FPS data.  The file then plays.

Tolerence to  bad data or bad media is not specficfied.  So  when you change chip...be it make or model...then the tolerence may change. Some less than perfect files which played before...will not play without corrections.

Thanks jer1956.  I will try to re-mux the file.  But I did check the file and it is actually recorded at 50fps and there is really 50 frames each second.  I also have another file recorded on the same Hauppauge HD PVR, just recorded as stereo and also 50fps and that pplays fine.  So it seems to be only when I record 5.1 surround audio that the problem occurs.

OK that makes sense thanks.  But howcome another file recorded with the same settings, just stereo instead of 5.1 plays fine?  I compared it's video properties in MediaInfo and except for the audio differences the 2 files are exactly the same and the one plays fine and the other not?

Some refer to field rate...not frame rate. The remuxers have no 50 or 60 hz options...because they deal with frames...not feilds. So the is video is 50 fields per second...with every other two making a progresive frame...or 25 frames per second. The chip is expecting frame rate...not field rate.
