Title: TViXIE-2-M8R
Post by: Skylinc on October 29, 2011, 06:19:57 am
Hi

I've created a small app that will read through a folder and sub folders, and create the XML files used by the new Mede8er to display movie information.

Usage:
Open the application, select your root movie folder, and click OK.

The files will be named according to the folder name. For example:
M:\Movies\Animated\A Bug's Life\MovieInfo.tvixie --> M:\Movies\Animated\A Bug's Life\A Bug's Life.xml

Please note that it does not use all the information from the recently released TViXIE 1.3.3, but it won't crash if it reads that file.

The following information is used from the TViXIE file:

I hope this helps the TViXIE users among us enjoy the same benefits as the YAMJ users  ;D

PS. I am willing to share the source code if anyone wants to tinker ;)

[UPDATE 2012/02/13]
I've rewritten the program in Java which means that it can now run on Mac as well.
2M8R.zip is the Java version (runs on all platforms)
TViXIE2M8RSetup.zip is the Windows only version

Changes:
1. Now uses the Title of the movie to create the XML file
2. Can convert ACRyan, Tomy, TViXIE and YAMJ files.

[UPDATE 2012/08/04]
2M8R_Java.zip is the Java version (runs on all platforms)
2M8R_.Net.zip is the Windows only version

Changes:
1. The output files of both versions are now (mostly) identical
2. Populated some additional fields for the Java version (Director, Country, Outline)
3. Fixed a bug in the Java program with permissions to folders created by Windows

[UPDATE 2012/09/02]
Changes:
1. Fixed a bug in the .Net version where the Rating would be calculated incorrectly (TViXIE always uses '.' as the decimal separator rather than the system default)

[UPDATE 2012/11/06]
Changes:
1. Both versions changed to support Sick Break's *.nfo files
2. Rewritten the Java version to improve the interface

[UPDATE 2012/11/07]
Changes:
1. Just a mention that the NFO files supported is TVRenamer (sorry for the miscommunication)
2. .Net version changes
2.1 "Outline" is renamed to "episodedetails" for displaying the plot in series view
2.2 The Year is now populated
2.3 The error message popping up when clicking the OK button twice is now fixed

[UPDATE 2012/11/24]
Changes:
1. New option on the main screen where you can specify a default Genre if no Genres were found

Please let me know if any bugs found.

Yes, good to see you got it working. Now other Tvix users have a way to migrate over to a Med and bring their movie data files with them.

Great contribution.  :)

This will really help new users that are not that techy to get YamJ running properly.
TviXie in combination with this tool really helps.

Cheers,

Thanks for putting in the time in producing this...but I can't seem to get it to work... ::)

I had a 500X and now have a 400X2...I have a 2tb HDD connected to it by USB and have run all the folders through TVixie and all worked great.  I ran all your folders through your SW, scanned them on my X2 and they are in the movies library - but sans any covers or info sheets... ???  Though they are there on my 500X still - I do however get the movie information your SW adds - just no covers...

Hi Basil

My SW does not download covers or movie info. It simply converts the tvixie file to xml that the mede8er can use.
I'm not near a pc at the moment, but I will check again when I am close to one. Can you list the files in one of the folders that do not show the info on Mede8er?

Yeah I understand that mate...as I understand it, it adds an .xml file to a folder that has already been scanned by tvixie...which all of mine have...there are 2 jpegs in each folder ((about & folder), the mkv file itself, 3 tvixie files(fanart, frontcover and movieinfo) plus 2 .xml files (film name and view)

Many Thanks

Not that it should make a difference, but are you browsing though Favourites or Movie Library?

Sorry for the late reply - movie library.  I have since used Thumbgen - and while it's not a patch on tvixie, it does show up the covers...though it looks a bit "amateurish" if I'm honest...the covers are all different sizes, all at different angles and not all the same kind...would really like to get this working if possible as I'm sure it would look more polished...

I don't think there is a template for TV Series, as the program is not as configurable as Thumbgen. I use TViXIE purely for movies, and thumbgen for Series.

Yeah, thats what i thought.. Was more hope than anything else  :D

I'm using Thumbgen for TV Series and YAMJ for movies
Was just hoping TVixie would support TV Series as some of the family, just cant get to grips with Thumbgen!
It would have saved me going round to sort it for them every so often  :D

Thanks for the info though m8  ;)

Great app!

The java version would not allways convert the actor information that was in the .tvixie file.
A problem the windows version does not seam to have, all actor info is now there.
Only problem I have is that the ratings are all 10/10.
<rating>800</rating> shouldn't this be <rating>80</rating> ?

Hope you can fix this? Love tvixie, so hope you keep working on the .xml converter!

<rating>800</rating> shouldn't this be <rating>80</rating> ?

Could you send me the tvixie file for this movie? I've checked mine, and they all seem fine (5.2 => 52). Also, are you using the Java version or the .Net version?
Title: Re: TViXIE-2-M8R
Post by: K0BUZ on September 02, 2012, 12:00:33 pm
Here are the two files, the tvixie and the xml file.
I used the .net version for the xml conversion.

Edit: Just looked at my Cars.xml.m8r file, and that has the correct rating of 80 instead of 800 which is in the Cars.xml file.

I ran the file on my side, and it converts fine. Can you tell me what your regional settings are (specifically the Decimal Symbol)?
Title: Re: TViXIE-2-M8R
Post by: K0BUZ on September 02, 2012, 12:15:31 pm
Decimal symbol is , and number of decimals 2.
The regional setting would be Dutch.

Changing my region to Dutch gives me 800. I will fix this and update (now that I know how to replicate the problem).

Hey there!

Im having a little trouble doing this. I new at this so I hope you guys have a bit patiens.

Ive used Tvixie when I had my TiviX before and am very satisfied with it and wanto continue using tvixie.

Now, when I choose the root directory where my movies are, it converts it to xml and to xml.m8r.

Then what am I suppose to do. When I go into the library in my X3 i can only see the covers of all the movies. When i enter the folder i see the .mkv file and the .jpg that I created with tvixie.

What exactly am I suppose to do with the .xml file?

Thanks
/V

Hi vartanig

The XML file is read by the Mede8er (probably exactly as the Tvixie use the tvixie file). When you have Jukebox mode set to ON, you will see the info from the XML file without needing to open "about.jpg" (by pressing the Enter button).

You will also need to scan your collection once Jukebox view has been set to ON so that the Mede8er knows about everything ;)

Now, when I choose the root directory where my movies are, it converts it to xml and to xml.m8r.

This will only happen if you already have XML files in the directory, and you have not opted to overwrite existing files (it's a backup of the original XML file)

@vartanig, please see the attached screen shot of what it should look like after you've converted the TViXIE files to XML. (I've highlighted in red what should be different)

If you don't see that, then press the Menu button on your remote, and make sure to click "Show Movie Info".

Please note, you don't have to scan your collection, or set Jukebox mode on for this to work.

You can get that by pressing the Info button on your remote (if about.jpg exists). I believe if you are in the favourites then the Enter button will work as well, but will test that tomorrow.

Skylink, Thanks for adding TvRenamer to your app, tested and working perfectly!

Converts all the .nfo files to .xlm files in a flash.

As I scroll through my Eps on the X3D it now shows all the required info at the bottom  :)

Well done!!!

Skylinc, your app looks promising, so planning to try for TV shows. Y2M is good for me for movies.

Couple of questions:
- Which is the recommended version to use (Java or Net)?
- Do I just point the app to my TV shows share and let it run?

My TV shows are organized as follows:

Breaking Bad (folder)
--Breaking Bad.jpg (show poster)
--Breaking Bad.nfo (show NFO)
--fanart.jpg (show fanart)
--folder.jpg (show poster)
--tvshow.nfo (show NFO)
--Season 1 (folder)
----Breaking Bad s01e01.jpg (season 1 poster)
----Breaking Bad s01e01.fanart.jpg (season 1 fanart)
----Breaking Bad s01e01.banner.jpg (season 1 banner)
----Breaking Bad s01e01.mkv
----Breaking Bad s01e01.nfo (episode NFO)
----Breaking Bad s01e01.tbn (episode image)
----Breaking Bad s02e02.mkv
.
.
.
--Season 2
.
.
.

Hi hdmkv

Firstly, both the .Net version and the Java version gives the same output (mostly, but still readable by Mede8er). Secondly, yes, it's as simple as point and click :)

My app will take the XML/NFO file and convert to Mede8er compliant XML in the same folder where the XML/NFO file is located, so your directory structure would be fine. However, I recommend testing on a small sample folder to make sure the NFO files are read correctly. If they are not read correctly, feel free to send me a few sample NFO files and I will see how I can read the NFO files to give the correct output.

Could you please explain how exactly the xml-file is structured with regard to position of the single fields as well as lenght/size?

I try to use my TViXiE files with the 600X3D and "actors", to give an example, is cut on the right side. Furthermore, I would like to re-arrange the fields to my needs...

Hi there. Thanks for a very useful thread for us with Tvixie - I have found out how to create the xml file, no problem, but I have 400+ folders and it will take a very long time for me to create the *.xml file. Is there any way you can "batch create" the xml files?
I'm a newbie in this, forgive me if you have already answered my question.

Thanks in advance.

If you already have all your movies scraped for TViXIE and you have the TViXIE files, then just select the parent folder to convert all of them. You don't have to select each movie folder to do the conversion.

Hello Skylinc,

I just purchased the Med1000x3D.
Until now i used the Dvico streamer and also used the TViXiE SW to display movie information. Crrently i have 6T of movies and for each movie i have movie information trailers. I dont want to do it agian (spent lot of time to crate it) with the new streamer.

Now form this from i understood that with your App i can convert the TViXiE MovieInfo.tvixie to  M8R XML and this is great!

the problem that i cannot find your App in this forum. Can you please help me and let me know where can i find your
2M8R.zip or TViXIE2M8RSetup.zip?

I really appreciate if you help me.

BTW, do you now how I can present the trailer with the Med1000x3D?
with the Dvico i only and the word "Preview_Moviename.mov" and i meaned to run the trailer form the movie information wall.

Thanks,
Lior

The files you are looking for are attached on the first post on the bottom:
http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php/topic,6782.0.html

But why not use the internal Mede8er scraper?

Just give it a try, works pretty fast in scraping all things again if you have no bandwith internet constraints and your movie folders are properly named.
Just first try it on some test folder with some test movie folders below.

You can find the guide here:
http://www.mede8er.com/mede8er_support_user_guides.htm

Look at:
X2 & X3 Series - Movie Scraper Online User Guide
X2 & X3 Series - TV Series Scraper Online User GuideX2 Series

It will also add the Trailer links to your movie.xml files.

Hello,

Thank you very much I found it  :).

I have not received the streamer yet. I am pretty sure that I am going to use the internal Mede8er scraper, but I would like to have also the option to use the TViXiE as backup.

Regarding the trailer: today I download the trailer (from HD-Trailers.net) and add it to the movie folder. Is there any possibly to link the existing trailer that I already have to the trailer icon on the Mede8er? or it is only through the web search?

BTW, what is the quality of the trailer if using the web search? is it HD?

Thanks,
Lior

We will release a new version tomorrow that also supports local movie trailer play and you just copy the Trailers into the appropriate movie folders and name as foll  -  xxxxxxxx.trailer.*    * = file extension     xxxxxx can be any name

The Web Based YouTube trailer functionality is set to stream 720p if available on YouTube and if not it will then stream the next available quality.

This is the typical 720p quality you will get

Hi,

Just to share a simple Python program I just did to do a similar job.

It removes useless files:
  folder.ico
  icon.tvix

It renames files that need to:
  fanart.tvixie -> fanart.jpg
  front_cover.tvixie -> cover.jpg
  tvix.jpg -> about.jpg

It generates the X3D XML file from the MovieInfo.tvixie XML file (without removing it).
Converted fields are:
- Title
- Year
- Runtime (converted in "Xh XXm" format)
- Rating
- Plot
- Director
- Certification
- Country
- Genres
- Cast

Works with Python installed with lxml module.
Just pass the root directory in argument and it loops over all sub directories to convert them.
In a command prompt just type:
Code: [Select]
python tvix2x3d.py -d <your root directory>
If this can help anyone ;-)
