Title: Multimedia Collection Organiser - Updated - New version: 1.0.0.18 (28 Jan 2016)
Post by: SuperDIY on November 23, 2010, 12:07:27 PM
Hi everybody,

I've created an app to manage my collection.  Basic features are the following:
* Renaming of CD/DVD tracks of ripped content using e.g. tracklisting from websites
* Searching, creating, manipulating, removing duplicates etc. etc. of mp3 playlists (incl. Virtual DJ support)
* Searching and downloading CD/track cover art (bulk option - leave it running to get covers for all your tracks)
* Bulk scraping of movie info, renaming files, stripping/replacing unwanted text from media filenames, creating/modifying your About image template, Bulk re-creation of about & Folder images using a new/changed template without re-scraping previously scraped content. etc. etc.

Current version: 1.0.0.18 (28 Jan 2016)

Download link: http://www.spectrumsound.co.za/mmcorg/MMCOrg.zip
Help File link: http://www.spectrumsound.co.za/mmcorg/Help.pdf
Readme file link: http://www.spectrumsound.co.za/mmcorg/Readme.txt

Please note that the old links are inactive and therefor the auto version checking and download links in the application and at the bottom of the old Readme.txt file will not work anymore - these were updated in application version 1.0.0.17 and the Readme.txt file updated on 30 June 2014.

Download and unzip the application to your desired location and use it by running the unzipped .exe file (MMCOrg.exe) - no installation required. If you are "upgrading" to a new version, simply replace the old .exe file with the newly downloaded file. The default set-up will have you up and running immediately, but the possibilities are endless.  Create your own about image template or modify one of the defaults and start to enjoy your MEDE8ER even more.

Please use and abuse, comment in this thread, but please remember, I created it for my own personal use, I will make changes and do bug fixes on my own discretion and time.

I have also compiled a help file (PDF), but remember that all the controls (buttons, check-boxes, fields, memos etc.) have hints - hover over a control and more info will be displayed.

If you are unable to download the files, please post in this thread, or send me a PM.

This is a freeware application, but if you find it useful, please support ongoing and future development by making a donation using the PayPal button on the caption bar (top-right) of the application.  All donations are much appreciated.

Enjoy

Is this an effective replacement for YAMJ?
I've got YAMJ working, but it's WAY slow (1min per file) despite internet HDD. May be cos I'm on OSX n I only seems to get 20MB/s throat on USB connection....whatever, Im keen for an alternative.

Post by: Chrisza on January 17, 2011, 09:02:38 AM
Wow, this has LOADS of potential. It's way easier to use that YAMJ, and far more flexible. However, it's quite clearly not meant for public release, and it doesn't handle series at all.
It's a one-stop-shop for file renaming, folder management, cover/about creation, etc. Whilst complex, it's simpler than YAMJ even if just cos one can clearly see what's going on thro all the options.

@SuperDIY: this is SO worth progressing. As share/donorware it may even be very worthwhile for you. There are many issues tho:
- batching really doesn;t seem to work
- single images are better, but even then "choose folder" popups appear in strange places
- it really needs something for series

"Current version: 1.0.0.4 (11 Feb 2011)" but the link says 23 November 2010 ???

The displayed "link" always stays the same, describing the file initially uploaded.  If you follow the link you will get the latest file though.

Check the readme.txt file first, if you are scared to download the bigger application.

* Added "Help & About" screen with update / download options and Auto-Update option.
* Added option to "Browse - Step 1" tab to browse for files in folders and to only
display the folders in which the files were found (Uppermost check-box - grey check).
* Fixed a bug on "Settings / Batch tab" of "About images" where create and re-create
buttons for images were disabled for non-local files.
* Added feature to remember last used directories for various options.
* Added options to change the case of (photo) file names to UPPER or lower. (Photos tab)
* Added options to resize photos and to create thumbnails of images. (Photos tab)
* Updated screen scraping code to support changes made to the various webpages.
* Added "Bulk Folder Renaming" to "Browse Extras" group - it can be used to rename
  folders with standard find/replace options.
* Improved speed for file ordering & duplicate removal in "Browse Extras" group.

Title: Re: Multimedia Collection Organiser - Updated - New version: 1.0.0.9 (14 Dec 2012)

New version uploaded today (14 Dec 2012).

Changelog extract:
Version 1.0.0.9: (14 Dec 2012)

* Updated screen scraping code to support changes made to the various webpages.
* Movie Images - Added feature to use IMDB poster when no poster can be found on
  www.movieposterdb.com.
* Movie Images - Added option to automatically create a sub-folder with the name equal
to the selected movie title. The movie will be moved into the created folder and all
the created files and images will also be saved in the created folder. This eliminates
the need to do a filename cleanup and "copy to folder" action before creating "about"
images - this can now be done in a more foolproof single step.

Hi,

I'd like to know if this tool can be used in conjuction with Y2M or Yadis.
Thanks!

Sorry, I'm not familiar with any of those apps.  Multimedia Collection Organiser is a stand-alone application.  I've coded it to help me manage my multimedia files and to simplify various tasks associated with my multimedia collection.  One of  the things it can do is to create the “about” images and "folder" images supported by the MEDE8ER, but no other application is used in conjunction with MMCOrg to achieve that. :)

Post by: SuperDIY on January 29, 2013, 09:02:45 AM
New version uploaded today (28 Jan 2013).

Changelog extract:

Version 1.0.0.11: (28 Jan 2013)

* Movie Images - XML file support! The option to create a text file containing movie
information is now replaced by an option to create an .xml "movie info" file instead.
These .xml files are used by the MEDE8ER to enable various searches. When the option
is selected, the created .xml files will be placed into the same folder as the about
image for the specific movie or TV Series.
* Photos - Added options to change case for Filename & Extension, Ignore Extension
  and Extension Only.
* Fixed a few bugs throughout the application.
* Added "Quick start guides" for "About" image (coversheet) creation to the help file.
* Updated the Help file to include all the current functionality.
* Movie Images - Added option to create a Mede8er.db file to be used by the MEDE8ER's
  Jukebox functionality.

It does support TV series, but at the moment it only uses imdb for the content and movieposterdb and imdb for the covers and backdrops.

What exactly do you need for TV Series?  I'm not sure what additional stuff is used for TV Series e.g. episode synopsis? episode plot? etc.

I was thinking about scraping per season.

An about sheet that would show the seasons synopsis and list the episode titles for the season.
Scraping per episode will be over kill I think.

I scraped the TV series yesterday and it worked well for the complete series but didn't work on a per season basis.
I tried to create a template for the seasons but I'm not all that clued up, so it was a complete mess  :-[

I'll see what I can do.  I also want to include the options to have "icons" for the video encoding (e.g. xVID), audio encoding & channels (e.g. AC3 / 6 channels), resolution (e.g. 1080p) etc. to the "about" image.

B.T.W. You won't really be able to change/create a template to achieve what you want.  The idea of changing/creating templates is to include or not include any of the "existing" fields and to move, colour and size etc. them the way you prefer - you cannot add "new" fields e.g. episode titles.  ;)

First of all thanks a lot for you effort, your tool is the only one which worked  for me and absolutely the easiest :D.

I have a suggestion, for the movie file that are not recognized, it would be easier to give the following possibility:

- select the file,
- to provide a field for the insertion of the relevant IMDB ID
- abilitate the creation of relevant directory, jpeg file, etc. as per normale procedure

This could be done one by one or providing a table view with all the files remaining without pictures.
This could be simpler then modify the name of such files or to create a nfo file

Sorry in advance, if the option is already there but I was not able to find.

Thanks again
Valter

Thanks for the great feedback.  I’m glad you like it.

For all the movies which could not be found (due to bad naming etc.) you can follow these simple steps:
1)   Go to the “About images” page and select the Detail page
2)   Enter the IMDB id into the field (without the trailing tt – the number only) and click the Search button next to it.
3)   In the “Select Directory” dialogue, choose the folder in which the “problem” movie file is.  Click OK.
All the detail for the movie will be scraped and saved into the selected folder (along with your movie)

I don’t think you can get easier than that...

Enjoy

Yes I noticed that, but in this case you have to manually create the relevant subdirectory. (I know I am lazy)

You immagine to start a new scan of a movie directory (as I did), everything will be inside the new directories except the unfind movies. It would be great, if them will remain listed ready to add only the ID.Then restart the previous procedure without searching and have all ok.

Thanks in any case

OK, now I understand why you want a table containing the failed movies and a field where you can enter the imdb id into.  I might add a column to the "Batch Operations" grid on the Settings / Batch page where you can enter imdb ids into.  Maybe list all the imdb ids of the scraped movies and then you can add missing ids or change current ids (if it is an incorrect id for a specific movie) and then have an option to "re-scrape" all movies which imdb ids in the grid does not match the ids saved with the movies.

I’ll fiddle with it and maybe include it in a future release.

Why do not implement a 3D mark for 3d movies? If it is difficult an auto system, a manual flag could make the job.

Hi kojoot,

Please try downloading it again.  The file was downloaded more than 150 times since the update on 18 Feb and you're the first person to complain about a damaged archive. I also downloaded it just now and I was able to open the zip file without any problem.

Hi Valter,

It is not as simple as adding a 3D mark.  First of all you have to get the detail from the audio/video steam and then you also have to add options (to the template) to add/display images (positions, sizes, included or not etc.) for all the different encoding types etc. e.g. xVID, .264, 3D, MP3, AC3 etc. etc.  This is not a quick one night jobbie.  Maybe sometime in future...

As  start point I suggest you can leave it manual; in my opinion this will be more then enough.  The user will check the box 3D for each movie to have the 3D indication.
I do not think that stream information are needed (avi, divx, etc.)
 Thanks
Valter

Hi Valter, I've investigated this language option.  IMDB uses the language as per your geolocation.  According to all the posts and articles I've read, you can only change the content language on IMBD if you are a registered user and log in before your session.  Unfortunately I would not be able to make use of the multi-language options on IMDB via this application.  The only option I have is to force IMDB to ignore your geolocation and always return content in English, but I will not be alble to make use of any other languages at this stage.

I am a new user of the Mede8er x3D and managed to get the YAMJ working (I should note that all this tech stuff is not native to me so I would appreciate a little patience with my lack of familiarity).  I have read all the posts and am confused. Is this program a replacement for Y2M/YAMJ?

It looks very complete even if I don't understand all of it. Can this be used to get the movie or music info into folders so it interfaces with the Mede8er Jukebox?

Is there a user guide to explain how to do this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, this is not a replacement, but an alternative for yamj.  Most people here uses it to organise their series and movies.  It creates the "backdrop" images and relevant files and can also create the db required by the mede8er to perform searches.  In the last few pages of the help file are tutorials to get you up and running in no time.

Hi AKT111

By default MMC checks your internet connection on startup, but this can be switched of on the Help & About screen - after MMC opened and checked the connection, click the "?" button in the top right-hand corner and uncheck both check-boxex in the center of the window, and click close.

MMC uses IE's internet configuration as per the readme.txt file.  In other words, IE needs to be installed on your computer and you must be able to browse the internet using IE, e.g proxy configuration etc. must be set correctly to enable browsing.  If IE is not installed or not configured to browse the internet, MMC's "internet connection checking" will timeout after a while, but sometimes it might crash and hang the application as well.  If you have a terribly slow internet connection, the "internet connection checking" procedure might take quite a while and the controls in MMC only activates once the "internet connection checking" procedure has completed and therefor it might seem that it is hanging.
