My LG TV does support 24hz, so when playing movie with 23.976fps (from any source), and screen config using either 50/60hz, TV will receive 50/60Hz, while turning on 24hz mode will make smoother movie flow, and TV will recognise 24hz signal from Mede8er.
Otherwise, playing 25hz material will no affect in 24hz config.
And I'll add ... as Service Center TV LG I am testing on many models, but none show the stutter when 24Hz is active (cheapest model to more expensive).  |

M2TS files do trigger the MED into using 24 hz. If your TV isn't doing any kind of mode change and displaying something to reflect that then it's still working at 50/60 hz, not 24. The Med won't force the use of 24, it will only use it if the TV supports it. Otherwise it sticks at what you have the TV output set to. If your not outputting at 24 hz the Med will automatically do Pullup from 24 to 30 hz. This is why these type of threads get complicated. Are using talking about pullup issues, or a little jerk every so often as the 23.976 video resyncs to 24? |

ok well what is obvious now is that my tv does not support 24 hz.
but i do experience the problems i told earlier:
- 1080P 50hz i get very small stutters every second
- 1080P 60hz The movie slows down a little bit every 5-7 sec (images are not running smooth anymore).
offcourse only in HD movies and probably only 23.976 FPS. So is there any solution or not in my case?

I thought I found the streamer for me but now I see this issue.
I have a Philips 37 PFL9604 which is pratically the same as the popular PFL8404 from 2009 and I'm wondering does anyone have the same model plus a Mede8er that can confirm if this is an issue with this combination.
I'm not a techie and I'm not sure if my LCD supports 24hz. I've been waiting for a media streamer and the Mede8er MED400X fits the bill. All I need is someone to confirm if this is or not an issue.
Please don't make me buy the WDTV Live!!!
Please help!!!

Bluray at 50 hz is not a standard format. A PAL DVD gets from 24 to 25 just by playing slightly fast. The med is doing pullup form 24 to 25 instead with bluray. So when the extra frame is added it stutters. To be honest what your desrcibing seems back to front. 60 hz output should stutter all the time dues to the repeated frames. 50 hz could be implemented by running the video fast, and then it trys to resynck as it empties the buffer to fast. |

The real time pullup chips found in mediaplayers,bluray players or TVs, are no where near good enough compared to those used to turn Film into video for TV broadcast. The only solution is to have a 24Hz refresh TV and then no pullup is required.

I know this topic has already more than a year :-)
This little problem is solved in Med500X2?
I'm tempted to buy a Med500X2 (Realtek RTD 1185), and I want to know if the latest firmware released this model, the problem of skipping a frame every 41 seconds at 23,976 fps MKV files that's resolved.
Or so the problem was in Med500X?
And buy a boring player latest and advanced than what I have now (Egreat M34A) and this problem still permenecer ...

The answer to your question is already in the post above - it is related to the TV connected.
If that has no real 24hz support but using a pull up method you will still see the issue.
That is still wrong. I have a Panasonic Plasma which definately supports 24fps ("real" 24fps mode) and it runs smoothly with my Blu Ray Player (which is explicitely configured to play in 24fps if the BluRay and TV supports it), it runs as well smoothly with WD TV HD (which i have as well), where WD TV HD must be configured manually to run in 23,976 mode (and NOT 24fps) - but it still stutters every 41 seconds when playing THE SAME Matroska Video on my Mede8er 400Mini (using Firmware 3.x). You may overlook this "stutter" when watching the video not very carefully, but if you have detected it once, it's annoying. I am not sure if this issue is related to Matroska Videos, I did not recognize that problem for *.ts or *.m2ts or BDMV folder, but I am unsure, if I really watched carefully. I will run some specific tests on that. |
