Unfortunately neither of you have another reference where the icons are pre-generated.  They don't appear in a flash either! A jukbox page of pregenerated thubnails takes 2-3 seconds to load.

Photo's do not have pre-generated thumbnails..so they take time to create.

So are the page to page times the same with 2.0.7 as they where with 2.0.6?

Yes, exactly the same time.

We have two situations

1) Time to initially load a large photo folder
2) Time to load next Page

We will investigate the reason why its taking long to load #1 on V2.0.7.
#2 can be improved by using lower res thumbnails.

Mede8er1

Thanks!

1. Is the problem.
2. Is normal for me, I have no problem with this.

Right now..the only advice is to go back to 2.0.3, or 2.0.4..if that worked better.  We do not recommend using firmware now found to be unstable just because it was faster.  The two  things might be related.

2.0.3 has a bad bug that reboots the X2 everytime I exit a parent folder in a picture slideshow. So I donīt want to use that.

2.0.4 has fixed the bug abow, BUT has deleted the function of having music still playing when browsing the music folders.
So I donīt want that either......

so Iīm stuck with the 2.0.6 till this "slow access to picture folder" it fixed somehow.......

I'm having the same issue: it takes ages to enter a directory with >100 pictures.

Once my Mede8er arrived, I immediately upgraded to firmware 2.0.7.
So I could never measure the speed of this in 2.0.6.

The OP was using 2.0.6 with a 400, and wasn't risking the NTFS issues 2.0.6 has for those using internal drives. We would not recommend  experimenting with 2.0.6 to see how fast it was.

In our tests folders of less than 100 pictures load as fast with 2.0.6 and 2.0.7.  We didn't have a routine test for more than that.

Well hope this will be fixed int future FW releases. There are now at least a couple of reports of this issue now, so Iīm not alone.

And many people like me probably have a couple/many hundres of pictures in some folders - and they are not really "browsable" in 2.0.7.

You should seriously revise your testing procedures! This is a commercial product and you should test on maximum possible amount of pictures, files, etc. before releasing new versions.

Priority on V2.0.7 was to fix random crash and file to folder issues. We have already stated that we will investigate this issue and hopefully fix it in the next release. So until then lets close this subject.

My post wasn't about this particular issue but about your testing procedures. I'm appalled by all the issues I read about production (stable) releases since 2.0.3 and even before. It's not the cheapest media player around and if someone pays that amount of money for a commercial product one would expect stable functionality. Not hard drive format issues, crashes, etc. on a regular basis. That leads me to conclusion about the testing procuderes and releasing firmware as "stable" which in fact still have plenty of issues.

We use the word "stable" becuase no modern device can be fault free.  It would be wrong to imply it can be. We cannot test all the possible variations of settings , networks and media  users might chose to use.  Has you mobile phone ever locked up, or your PC, or sat box, or PVR?  All mine have from time to time. I don't declare that they can't have been tested. Modern tech is feature rich, and unrelaible as a result.

That's why I pointed to your test procedures. You have to test on maximum number of supported files and not on a bare minimum of less that 100 files in a test folder and then release "stable" version based on that test.

But it is stable...we don't say it's perfect, or without issue.  If we believed that..we could shut down the forum.
