Sorry for my bad English /BoomeNator Was it ok with the supplied 1.0.0 firmware? If yes, please post here, pointing out it worked before:- http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php/topic,6040.0.htmlIf it has never worked, I'l move this to Tech Issues.

Can you attach a sample of such an .srt file?
Or is it not with external .srt files but internal subs? If that is the case, can you post some media info of such movie with this problem?

Had the same problem with swedish letters å,ä and ö! My default is network and streaming from nas! Not 100% sure but! Make sure that you set Auto Detect Decoding in system setup to off! This helped me!
yes this is it! Home and doublecheck this right now Set Auto Detect Decoding to off and try again!

Hello
I have MED 500X2 with 2TB drive inside.
I discovered problem with subtitles which it was not present (at least I think in version 1.0).
Problem is present with 1.01 (did not try 1.02) and 1.03 version. Problem manifests as the player wont recognize subtitle if there more than 15 episodes per season in one folder. It plays first 15 episodes normally and 16th episode says no subtitle. Subs are of course same name and in the same folder.
Moving episodes with same subs (more than can handle) to a different new empty folder solves problem, but it is not a solution if you want complete season in one folder. File types are divx or xvid and subs are srt or sb.
Thanks in advance for any help

First upgrade to the latest 1.0.3 fw. Since 1.0.2 there are some sub fixes, see the release notes: http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php/topic,6354.0.htmlRegarding the max subs per folder, 15 is current limit, but is already extended to more in the current internal beta releases, to max 64 if I remember well.

Uhm , doesn't he have the latest version, or are there more than one 1.0.3 version. Atleast now he knows why there can be no more than 15 subs in on folder. 64 can also be a lil small, because I know enough people which have more than one sub per Episode (not internal). They just try them till they find the most fitting one (personal taste ahoi).

I have same problem and my problem is exist from the first day that i bought it!
500X2 with 2TB HDD
Using Dutch, Turkish, English subtitles with video files (Mostly MKV or AVI) sometimes embedded (like soft embedded to mkv) or just seperately srt/sub/sub&idx files with avi..
No matter which letter code system i chose, some characters (actually all NON-Western or most unicode) has being showed as chinese.. I bought my player like 6 months ago and problem is still there.. All firmwares failed to solve this issue..
I am using Mostly Dutch, if there is no Dutch then Turkish subtitles and sometimes for asian films i have to use English subtitles (mostly for no available Duth or Turkish subtitles for those movies)
This is very very annoying and now i have to use a special OCR character fix script for all my subtitle files to watch them correctly on the screen. Using subtitle workhop to edit subtitle files. I have another media player at home (actually a satellite receiver) and it can handle the subtitle files much more better..
Very sad..

@Pandion,
Reading your message I have the idea you might have this setting not set right:
Auto Detect Decoding (off/on) Used to auto detect the file format of external subtitle files. Keep it off to prevent getting wrong output for special chars like ë ï etc.
Please check it in Mede8er setup settings.
