Also tried small letters? videowall insteds of Videowall ?

And if you pick the videowall option in the startscreen, Do you see the folders that you linked to the videowall?
When you do go to a linked folder in the videowall and press the menu button. Then select the "two photo" icon. The custom jpg's should popup now.

This looks normal.
A trick that might help to correct this: downgrade this unit to 2.1.0 version using recovery mode.
After that upgrade again to your current release.
Have seen some having this problem, that did this downgrade to 2.1.0 and then up to 3.0.4 to fix this.
Thanks for the advice, but no luck. I downloade 2.1.0 and 3.0.4. Downgraded to 2.1.0, browsed around and switched of the unit. Powered up, inserted USB stick with 3.0.4 on, powered of, installed 3.0.4 with the same routine. And after 3.0.4 seemde to be ok, upgradd to 4.B4. Same story. Had to recreate the shortcuts for the video wall but the link still shows "USB" at the top. Funny thing is that according to the Media Browser, the files are on the HDD? If I go into USB, I can only see the files on the USB stick which is plugged in, if one is plugged in.
Something else I checked - if I plug in 2 memory sticks, I can only see the files on one of them - is this normal?

Some more info I've just discovered: If I browse to \\mede8er\, I can see \\HDD1 and USB if a USB stick is in the bottom port. If the stick is in the top USB port, I can only see \\HDD1 over the network. (Maybe this is the reason why I was having trouble updating the bootloader?

Please also see my other question:
And is this happening in standard setup or modded setup with modded ext3 partition?
Just read you are using ext3:
http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php/topic,1471.msg21202.html#msg21202

I do use the ext3 mod (that the NTFS/udfs  corruption is not on the bug list is a little more serious than an very occasional hang.).

In experimenting with a reproducable hang i did manage to let het media libray hang 3 more times, but not reproduceable, some timing might be involved, maybe it has to do with the resume option.

I can reproduce the hang reliable under samba, but i am afraid that the cause there is a CCS encrypted dvd disk image. (will post that one in normal bug forum if i  have some time to look at the samba server)

I lost track of your other question in this big topic.   Videowall? i just have to read the manual 10 more times is think. It is not intuitive.

Please fix the Ntfs driver bug, or make ext3 formatting available from gui.

I would like to make a few personal comments to the design.

I wished the design of the video wall would be more reduced. In my opinion there are too many elements (lines frames), that distract from the film selection and the covers.
The chosen film title could be somewhat bigger for it and centre and the colour of the font should be more discreet (not white).

Also I find the menu of the genre a little bit unclear. Maybe an alternative representation in list form would be helpful here (just like in the media center).

And I think an alphabetical order of the films according to the scheme makes more sense: First row from the left to the right and then further in the second row.

However, I like the design of the new main menu very well.  Wink

@ leuk_he
I also use the ext3 mod and I have no trouble with hangs in the media library or the video wall. I have found though that when resuming from standy the ext3 partition is not mounted, it only gets mounted when starting from full power off - is this also true for you? Perhaps you could pm me with details of this so we don't hi-jack this post.

Cheers

nice update, but still no luck with the wifi nas option. after a while the transfer crashes and says write delay etc etc.
I was hoping the nas option was working in v4. I formatted the hdd in the mede8er and foloowed the normal instructions. Via cable the nas works, wifi still not. My fault or just still buggy?

same with FTP 1 files goedokay, second file ahnged/stalled.

Anyone with good FTP or NAS functionality? maybe I didn't set it up right (but tried every option given in this forum)

Hello,

Looks great, the M8er is a nice machine to have!
Install went smoothly, had to use the V4beta4_17L_Bootloader.

Some remarks on V4 itself, though:

  • Music, Pix and Movies take a lot more time to start up than it did with V3. Say a couple of seconds, while using V3.0.4, media started playing right away.
  • Double folder names, when accessing the M8er with a computer using win-explorer.
  • When browsing the M8er with win-explorer I can only see file names of the pix (jpg), no mp3 file names. The music folders appear to be empty, but I can see my Mp3's when using the M8er itself.

Regards,

Morris
