I have generated some fanart/backdrop for my movies using YAMJ2Mede8er, If you have done so, post here your about.jpg image here ...     FYI : - Using YAMJ skin [AeonWall - Sabish Lowlist] - Little modification on layout, and fonts. - YAMJ Version: v2 or newer ================================================================= - Download the Aeonwall_Sabish_Lowlist_Osiris skin for YAMJ here pass: the-osiris - If you don't have YAMJ yet, download YAMJ here .. - After generating YAMJ - use YAMJ-2-Mede8er to generate your backdrop/fanart directly to your media folder. - Download YAMJ-2-Mede8er here (Old Y2M)- For new Y2M Beta3 download right here, but plot will be truncated since it does not support short-plot (as my skin does).
NOTES :- Extract skin to YAMJ/Skins folder ... - Set your YAMJ moviejukebox.properties (mjb.skin.dir) skin to aeonwall_sabish_lowlist_osiris - Use YAMJ GUI Config to set YAMJ in easy manner .. - Fanart are automatically download, so it might takes a while to complete download. - Fonts and Colors are located at exportdetails_item_popcorn.css (on skin folder, at html folder) - If you want to change the movie title (if it gets too long), edit manually on XML file on generated jukebox folder, also if you need to change the subtitle list, genres etc .. ================================================================= and I'm still waiting for you to upload any skin you have ... mostly on modified skinUPDATE : New style and font (something I should do the first time) ...===================================================Note for AeonFont_NewStyle.zip :- Extract to any folder
- Double-Click AEON_TITLE_CY.TTF to install font
- Copy exportdetails_item_popcorn.css to \\YAMJ\skins\aeonwall_sabish_lowlist_osiris\html

sience i see this line , it will be better to post (upload ) your moddded YAMJ (xml configuration). dont you think ? it will avoid post resquest and also mess up...  |

But spare me more time to complete the modification (some of them still manually edited - for each XML movie generated, so it fits the page beautifully ..), since I made several mod - I wil upload if its ready to .. Btw, if you have any design, might be inspiring another to change their YAMJ generated fanart .. please upload it here ... |

could you plz explain how you made the lowlist mod to work. I don't really know how to make it work: all i have is the 'original' aeon pictures (see attachment).
I really like the lowlist, gives it a more professional look.

Sorry for late reply, Just edit the skin-options.xsl file (under the skin folder) .. Find this line <xsl:variable name="LowList">true</xsl:variable> don't forget to set (in skin.properties file): fanart.movie.download=true
fanart.movie.width=1280
fanart.movie.height=720
fanart.tv.download=true
fanart.tv.width=1280
fanart.tv.height=720 and posters.format=png
posters.width=224
posters.height=332 You may see those files inside my modded skin to see the differences ... Check post #1 for download the skin .. |

Nice discussion...
Why would somebody pay for this, while you easily can create this kind of pictures in you own language using YAMJ to create them automatically and Yamj to Mede8er to put them all on your NAS, PC where you stream from or NAS where you stream from?
Setup Yamj with the package that is here on the forum: max 30 minutes (took me 10 minutes)
Creating about 150 about.jpg files with YAMJ and YAMJ to Mede8er: 15 minutes max
But I realize that such a site could be interesting for those that have setup their mede8er as a standalone unit, not connected to the network.

I'll be glad to explain you my point of view.
I bought the Mede8er because I didn't want any PC for mediaplayback: on->play->relax
The reasonable alternative is a Windows Media Center.
My Mede8er is not connected to any LAN, NAS, PC or USB device (it was before). This makes it an extremely fast device.
Once ripped the DVDs, converted to MKV, placed a folder.jpg in the folder, on my PC, I put them on a USB stick and get them onto the Mede8er.
It would take additional 60 seconds of user interaction to download the appropriate about.jpg and place it in the folder before moving on to the Mede8er.
Why not the other tools/about.jpg builders???
- First I don't install SW that contains the word "BETA"!
- I tried them anyway, and non of the installers are userfriendly as a SW in 2010 should be
- Once installed, the GUI is often so bad that I deinstall the software after 10 minutes I tried to get a result
- I don't whant to choose what kind of background, what kind of cover, which version of synopsis, what rating source (who rated this movie anyways... only MY rating counts!), ...
This is just my thoughts that come from my environment, my life requirements and expectation with all the respect due to the people investing time and money for all the freeware that could do this in a more or less automated way.
PS: origin of my requirements: some years ago my wife said I have to get rid of the 400+ DVDs (cartoons and movies) from our living room. As a IT manager the version 1 environment was a PC with a Windows Vista Media Centre and myMovies installed.
The result: driver problems all the time. BSOD after resume from standby, limited remote functionalities, AV sw killing movie viewing pleasure, almost 2 minutes of boot time... I got once a week a call like "daddy, it isn't working..."
The Solution?

I understand your point.
Only question would be for those who are interested to set up such a site:
- will there be enough volume (users) that will become a user of such a site and want to pay a small amount of money to pay for this membership?
Otherwise the cost to setup, manage and keep the site running will be more then the amount of money that is coming in....
Just my 2 cents...

totaly agree with ProgHead in his perspective of buying and using M8R. it is also my reasons for using M8R , sience watching a movie from a PC screen monitor is annoyng , at least for me - when do this i just can find my place: strange contrast, weird colours.......so i just use M8R for watching at my favourite movies. ProgHead, is very right, it will relax . also i preffer to use only attached usb hdds because M8R is very fast in this way . about paying for some pictures :  ... i can live without them, in fact i'm interested more by the movie. PS: i hope ThumbGen dont read this...  . but i'm more then sure neither ProgHead will not do this (i think it was more a way of speak), sience in this topic can have something similar with a big help from modders. i will stop here and i will let others to post some pics. cheers EDIT: It will be nice if togheter with posted pic's will be xml configuration and eventualy basic comments like used sw, steps that you done for create that pic and what's new. I ask this because i'm not satisfied by the actual templates from Yamj: no bitrate, poor transparency and unreadable text. |
