Internet Radio menu description (firmware version 2.0.2)
(this is a first attempt, a 'living/growing' document)

The Internet Radio feature of the Mede8er allows you to listen to Shoutcast radio stations on your TV or Home Theatre system. The Mede8er must be connected to the Internet in order to use the Internet Radio feature.

When entering the Internet Radio menu, you should see Download Succes in the left corner of your screen.
If it shows Download Failed:
- check your Internet connection and router settings
- check your Mede8er network settings and network connectivity
- do a hard reset of your Mede8er by unplugging the DC jack and re-plug again after some 20 secs.
- try to hard reset your internet connection by power-off and on your network router and internet ADSL or Cable modem
- shoutcast services are down, try again later

Station
From the station menu select your desired radio station.
Browse throught the list by pressing up/down/left/right arrow on your remote.
Press enter button on your remote to select the radio station to play.
Press select button on your remote to add a station to the Favourite section.

Genre
Browse through all available radio stations by Genre, like Top25 stations, Country, Classical, etc.

Favourite
A list of favourite radio stations that have been selected under the Station menu by you.
Pressing select on your remote will delete entries.

Search
Search s specific Shoutcast radio station by name.

Note: when playing Internet Radio the Mede8er screensaver will show the name of the current song playing  (only if the chosen radio station is passing song tags)

Huh Iedere hulp is welkom !!!!!

Hi Willey,

Difficult to say.

For a test: do you have the possiblity to connect your mede8er temporary with a lan network cable to your router?
Just to verify if it is working then?
We need some base to troublehoot this.

I have  a Lan cable but not long enough to reach the player from the router. Will buy one within a couple of days. Will let you know if this works. Meanwhile I'll try to change  some router settings. Thanks!!!!

Willey,

Just a thing you should also try:
Unplug your wireless router from power and after some 30 secs again to the power.
Also unplug your mede8er from power.
After your router is fully up, plug in mede8er power again and start it, and check again.

What FW version are you on? 2.0.2 or other version?

Hi Maasbommel

I am a newbie, just purchased my mede8er yesterday. I have upgraded the firmware to v1.2.2a (no HDD installed) and can now get internet radio stations, however when I press select I get the unavailable icon. Is saving favourites only available to v2?

thanks

Hi Duff,

No, it should also work on 1.2.2a
You probably press select when you are one level to deep. Just give it a try when you see the name of the radio station and not one you are one level deeper where you select one of the streaming links.

Willey,

What firmware release do you have installed on your mede8er?
And does your mede8er has an internal disk installed, Is this formatted from mede8er setup?

Please advise on above questions.

Maasbommel,

Firmware v.1.2.1 and harddisk Samsung 1TB already installed when I bought the player. Formatted the drive as instructed in the manual. Strange that I receive the message "download succesfull" without the radiostations been displayed on the TV screen.
Do I have to enable UnUp in my router settings Huh?

Willey,

Still a strange problem.

Can you try to use the search menu under radio and search for a station, e.g. try 3FM.
Then select the station and try to start it.

Very fustrating. After 72 h of trial and errror I'm just able to fill the harddisk via USB from my laptop (Vista) Installing Mede8er into the home network requires an IT degree.Samba file sharing seems not to work. Can't see mediaplayer on my laptop (Vista) or on my desktop (XP) and vice versa. I think something must be wrong with routers settings (D-Link DSL- G604T). I suppose no one can help me how to reconfigure the router. The English router Sad manual isn't the problem but I'm a NOOB concerning the IT Terms. For the moment I regret having bought a mediaplayer because viewing movies direct from laptop hooked up to TV with HDMI was much easier!!
A shame for the 275 Euros spent for this player.

Had the same problem as Willey reported.

Install the latest firmware and the problem will be gone.

At least, you can listen to internetradio. Searching for some stations is difficult. F.e.: search for radio538 is not possible, no the right result. Hope for a correct update in an upcoming firmwarerelease.

Good luck.

Hi Willey,

Don't give up to soon, you will get there....
Can you give an update if you already updated to 2.0.2 firmware release?
You can find it in the download section.

You can find it here:
http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php?board=19.0 on the top.
Be sure to use the THE EMERGENCY LOADING PROCEDURE as described in the release notes.

Hi Maasbommel,

Updating to the 2.0.2. firmware resolved my internetradio problems !!!!! I have now a  get now a huge list of internetradiostations, so many that I don't know which one to choose first !!!! Smiley
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP !!!!
Now, I still have to get the player shown up on my laptop and desktop and vice versa via Samba sharing protocol.
Also I like to install YAMJ to the player, but that will sure be to difficult for a newbie like me !! Undecided

Regards, Willey.
