Hello
Because of problems with the hdd I just formatted the HDD.  I also had problems that my computer does not recognize the device Anymore when connecting with USB.  So I had hoped after formatting the HDD it should be solved. But unfortunately not so. I reinstalled the latest firmware V4.0.5. But still it won’t work.
I have had the same kind of problem before but then the led light didn’t blinked when connecting. After connecting the LAN cable it worked again.
Know the led light blinks when I connect. LAN cable is connected I have reinstalled the firmware.
Please advice what to do?

If you had drive problems.,,how did you format?  The big issue here is formatting is limited to formating the partitions that are there. It really needs a virgin drive..without partitions..so that the interbnal formatter can create the partitons the Med needs...and then format them as required...be it NTFS for user storage or ext3 for system use.

I formatted with setting menu from the mede8er. So I need to do differently? What do you mean with verging drive. Do I need to buy a new one ? Or do have to do it differently with the mede8er?

Unfortuantely yes. It wasn't known at the time but 4.0.4 SDK changes required a new partition layout that can only be created on a virgin drive. This has to be done by creating a virgin drive. This can be done using telnet...after you have backup the data. I shall find the tip.

So if I understand correctly I have to back up al data again  Sad and than buy a new HHD and format that one according to your TIP. Or do I have to create my current drive to a virgin using this Telnet procedure you mentioned after I back-up data?

If I understand you already wiped your disk.

So first do the clean tip where Jer1956 pointed too, do a clean format after that and then start filling the disk.
First a smal part, test it and when ok, start filling the rest.

Yes you can create a virgin drive by removing the partitions. Some people with esata can do it using their pc...others are willing to open their pc and connect the drive to the motherbaord. Otherwise you  leave the drive in situe and use telnet over the network.

172.19.2.24 does not sound like a local ip address.
Are you sure this is the ip address of your mede8er? I would expect some 192.x.x.x ip number.

It is probably the IP address of my network router to connect to the mede8er HHD. How can I check de MED500 Ip address?

You normally see this in setup under the network menu.
