I am now officially annoyed!!

After may months on v3.x I eventually decided to upgrade to v4.0.5 the latest and apparently final version. Let me start at the beginning...I download the update, put it on a memory stick and head home. Of course I have the same problem as everyone else where after the update the unit hangs on the splash screen. So I kick my daughter off her mac and start hitting the forums. Then I have to download the HUGE bootloader file on my crappy home internet connection, install that and then download the firmware again. By the way...the only way to figure out which version to download was to go in the archives and have a look at some beta or something that actually describes what the difference between the HD_Audio and Non_HD_audio actually is.

Once the download is complete, great now we unzip and off we go, BUT NOOOO it's only available as a RAR file for download so now we have to go hunt for a bloody unrar utility (FOR MAC NOGAL). A couple of hours later I finally get my beloved mede8er back up and running, new interface...niceish i suppose and some new features. As a matter of interest I installed the No_HD_Audio version.  Now we seem to have that bug back where the mede8er restarts after a couple of minutes after you switch it off with the remote. I know it was fixed in V3.something so to have the same issue in the LAST version is a bit of an oversight me thinks. But no problem, I just bought  a new amp so now I'm running HDMI and can install the HD_Version instead in the hope that this fixes the problem.

GUESS WHAT? Now the darn thing won't switch on again!!!! AAARRRGHHH!!! And not even hanging at the splash screen, that dissapears and then, nothing! So here I go again starting the whole procedure over again. Not a happy puppy I assure you! And by the way I just looked at the v4.whatever to check the difference between HD & No_HD again and it refers to DD and DD+ what the hell is that now? must I go look at the notes of V2 now or what.

In summary: I emplore you, pretty please can you make sure that the FINAL version is bug free, we're not asking for new features, just no bugs. Explain what files are for what and why. What is DD & DD+ and what is HD and No_HD and pretty pretty please can we have them in zip format too, ohh and would be nice to let us know that the bootloader is required. Actuallly I think you should bundle this whole lot into ONE install file so we don't end up spending our nights and weekends pulling our hair out and downloading this patch and that patch and can just sit and enjoy your product....let me see if that bootloader installed...

Well, I have a problem with connecting to my MEDE8ER by WLAN.

In the previous firmware that I had (3.0.something) it worked like a charm but now it "refuses" to work (Mede8er won't accept connections). So, I configured it as I did many times before, I can see the MEDE8ER in Windows' 7 Explorer as a part of my "Network", NAS is on etc. So, I have to use FTP in order to copy files from my PC and that's really annoying. Also, it makes me clueless on the internal HDD free space (just today I spent an hour figuring out why Mede8er blocks when I try to scroll through the folder list - the reason was nearly full disc (1.5TB), it was a shot in the dark but it worked).

I appriciate your work and efforts you made so far and I will probably buy the "next generation" soon. But, 'till then, pretty please...can you remove this annoying bug(s) and make a final firmware release.

Best regards,
I.

There where major changes to networking becuase some unlucky users had problems with v3. Those changes cuased networking issues for some who hadn't had them before. That isn't going to change....there will be no new firmware. Now we helped some who chose to stay with 4.0.4.....whilst others went back to v3. There is tip based on this,,,but it's a workaound that requires  users to tweak.
