Hello,

I have a mede8er since last weekend and now I have added a large number of mp3's and jpg's on the internal HDD of mede8er. When in the mede8er menu I can choose to show all folders and files in the media library present but I can choose the tab Music, Photo or movies as well. But in every tab all the present files are being shown. I would have expected the mp3's to appear under music and the jpg's in the Photo tab.

Am I wrong? Should I add all files directly under the root of the HDD without using folders and subfolders???

Product & firmware version: Mede8er MED500X f/w v1.2.1
Audio: NA
Audio setting: SPDIF Passthrough / Night mode OFF
Video: PAL
Video setting: PAL
Media Source: Standalone

Hi Soudant
I have noticed the same thing and tried to create a directory structure in the hope it would seperate the different media formats, but it stays the same for me. I owned a different brand ( cheap) media player before and used to just dump all the media in the root and the menu sorted them like you sugest.
I am curious as I am sure the Mede8er will be able to do the same, just for someone to point us in the right direction.

Hi guys,

These tabs are in fact simple media 'filters' which form part of the default Realtek GUI.
These filters assume pretty much that one would store all their media in one folder (or the root) and sort them according to the appropriate filter, as Terry has suggested.
They certainly do not gather all media from various directories and sub-directories and accumulate them into one concatenated list per media type.

They are not the most clever tools in the box but they serve a purpose every now and then, so they were left in place.

Where they do come in useful is in a case where you have folder cover art in movie folders and you don't want to see it while navigating - then move across to the movies filter; OR you enter a music folder with art in it, play the music and then move across to the PHOTO filter and view the pictures contained therein.

HANDY TIP:
Another use for these tabs is the PLAYLIST feature:
While navigating in MOVIES mode for example, movies that are added to the PLAYLIST (using the SELECT & CONFIRM buttons on remote) will be added to the MOVIES playlist; same with the MUSIC tab - music files added while this tab is highlighted will add audio files to your MUSIC playlist, etc - same for PHOTO and ALL.
Now one has four playlists, corresponding to the tabs across the top.
To access them, go to MEDIA LIBRARY > PLAYLIST and choose the appropriate media playlist tab using the LEFT and RIGHT navigation buttons on the remote...
