My Med500x has started displaying pictures that are bloccky and i do not know how to rectify the problem.
I spoke to the dealer i purchased the machine from and he said that it could be a firmware problem, when i download the latest firmware V4.04 i cannot un zip it i get the following error message - " WinZip only supports IMG files that are in the ISO format"
I have downloaded it several times but get the same error message when i try to unzip it.
Can anyone please tell me what i am doing wrong.

Thanks in advance.

here is the FW
http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php/topic,4793.0.html

You unzip the downloaded file and you will see an install.img
That is the FW file to install, you don't have to unzip the install.img again.....

You will have to use another unzipper. Try 7-zip instead.

Finally got it unzipped and new firmware installed but no change in the problem, the picture is a mass of blocks and is unwatchable. Where do i go from here ?

Do you get this blocky image even during booting, when the big 8 is shown?

What video settings are you using under mede8er video setup?

And what do you mean with blocky pictures?
Photos or movies that are playing?

Big 8 and menus are fine.

Movies mate, they are just a mass of coloured blocks.

Ok. Clear.

1] What video settings are you using under mede8er video setup?

2] And does the blocky screen come at once or after some while?

3] And does it come with all movies or only with some specific ones? So mkv HD, DVD etc?

Can you confirm that this is with movies you had no problem with before, or only with movies you have downloaded recently?

Yes it was with movies that were fine previously, i have re-installed the firmware plugged other  usb sticks/hdd in and the problem seems to be sorted. However my main 2tb external hdd files are still unwatchable but i have discovered that the caddy it is in is dodgy. Before installing the firmware again all drives i plugged in would not play correctly but now they are fine.
Very strange problems but hopefully sorted.

Thanks to all members for there input.
