Hello,

I have 2 problems,
The first i already posted before.
This is that when i connect the mede8er to the laptop by usb the mede8er goes to usb mode and shows the mede8er logo. But the laptop doesn't recognize the mede8er.
Because of this problem i came to my 2nd problem.
I copied al files from my mede8er to my laptop. (this takes a while because usb mode isn't working  Wink )
Then i decided to format my hdd because i also had some folders that wouldn't be deleted.
I got to the setup menu and choose for hdd format.
After running this, i checked the hdd and it was completely empty.
Then i connect the laptop again by the usb cable, but without succes.
After disconnecting the usb cable the mede8er restarts.
Then i would to copy back my files to the mede8er by network.
But the i was surprised because all my files where there again!
Does anyone know how this is possible?

Thanks,

Your format was not successful.
Please look in the beginners guide, Lin is in my footer.
There is a tip in the FAQ section how to format the internal drive by telnet.
Give that a try.

How old is the laptop? USB is not as reliable with older PC's as it is with moder ones. If that laptop stops looking on a port before the med enters slave mode, it may not detect it.

Paul,

Have you tried your mede8er on another pc, maybe from a friend?
This to be sure you have not some he defect or cable issue?

Maybe you just have a defective usb port on mede8er side. Have you tried contacting the mede8er phone support line?

I cannot repair your unit by means of the forum - they can give you a RMA to get your unit repaired.

You will know if you call the support line.
Will depend how it will be sent in or dropped off I guess and where you live.
