Hello - I must start by saying that I've had my 500X since May 2010 and in that period it has worked like a dream and done everything asked of it!

Until last night anyway.

Just a few stats:
Product & firmware version: Mede8er MED500X f/w v2.02
Audio: HDMI output > Sony Bravia KDL-40W5500
Audio setting: HDMI output > Sony Bravia KDL-40W5500
Video: HDMI output > Sony Bravia KDL-40W5500
Video setting: 720p I think 50Hz ,16:9
Media Source: Wireless streaming from NAS via Mede8er dongle
Hard Drive: Not installed - all media via wireless
Board: N/A
HDD capacity: N/A
HDD free space: N/A

You will see I never updated the firmware past 2.02 as this was always stable for me. I was happy with the perfectly functional folder approach and not interested in videowalls or suchlike. The player has performed admirably until last night when it suddenly powered off while watching a Doctor Who mkv.

Now when I power on, the blue LED shows for about  quarter of  a second, goes off and that is that. The power supply is definitely OK and the wireless network still goes to my PS3 so no problems there. Pressing the power button subsequently gets no response UNTIL I pull out and then replace the power supply from the back of the unit, and press the power button again - then I am back to square one with the blue LED showing for about quarter of a second.

Going by similar issues it would appear this is a firmware issue.

Tring the emergency reboot - holding the power button for 15 seconds - gives the exact same response. I have tried firmwares 4.04, 2.02 again and even 1.2.2 (all via memory stick - both USB ports tried) but neither work. Randomly on two occasions only the blue LED held itself on  for about 20 seconds, the screen has displayed the Mede8er logo before going black and powering off. No idea why these occasions were different.

I see people have had similar if not the same issues beore but I don't know what more I can do? The Mede8er will still be within warranty but I don't really want the expense and delay of sending it to South Africa if possible!

Many thanks for any guidance that anyone can provide.

Try connecting using analog video to see if that's more stable. If it is, then try emergency install again whilst connected via analog.

Thanks for the posts guys

Jer1956 - I tried using the Red-White-Yellow connectors that came with the unit (assume this is what you mean by Analog). Exact same response as as when using HDMI unfortunately.

Maasbommel - I am living in the UK, got the Mede8er from DigitalEra in Swindon last year. I don't know if they would be able to help (only for the first 30 days I guess) or if I'd have to liase with Sanji directly?

Sounds like some HW defect.

I would suggest you contact mede8er Europe directly for repair:

Thanks for the reply

I sent an email detailing the above issue (and all the fixes I have tried)  to support@mede8er.eu 4 days ago but disappointingly haven't received any response as yet.

Given the very positive feedback that is apparent on these forums re Mede8ers after sales customer support this lack of response is a little alarming, I would be happy even with a holding email advising they will look into my issue and write with further advice in X days - so long as a solution/fix is offered given that the unit is still well within 2 years warranty.

Is there any other way I should be contacting them other than  the above email address? Phone call within office hours isn't possible for me as I am working in that period.

Kind Regards
