DIVX (MPEG4) gives jerky video

I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but I realised this only yesterday. Up to now, I've been testing my unit only with 720p & 1080p mkv's and all kinds of music files (mp3's,flac's), which works perfectly.
I also still have a lot of SD avi's, which give me very jerky pictures. This problem doesn't seem to be the exception, because it happens on most of my mpeg4 avi's. All my avi's are 16:9, but SD only.
Anybody has an idea what might be the cause of this? Help would really be appreciated. Thanks.

Product & firmware version: Mede8er MED500X f/w v1.1
Audio setting: Night mode OFF
Audio: HDMI output > Samsung 40" Series 5 550 Full HD LCD
Video: HDMI output > Samsung 40" Series 5 550 Full HD LCD
Video setting: 1080p 60Hz,24Hz ON,16:9
Media Source: HDD

My collecgtion suffers from the opposite problem, most of my files are SD.  I havn't had a problem with jerky videos. Maybe you could supply details of the encoding and the tech guys can have a look at that.

Strange never seen this either on my Mede8er. If you cannot resolve I suggest you supply some sample files so that we can check them

The video problem I have is very inconsistent. I can start to watch something and it will be fine for a minute or so. Then the jerkyness starts. No problem with the audio, but the video almost seems to skip frames. If I then skip back 10 seconds or so and rewatch it, its fine. Then it will be fine again for while and then the jerkyness starts again. This happens only on my avi's so far. Nothing else.  Below is some media info of two files where this happens. Don't know if it will help though. This is very annoying though.  If you need sample files, just tell me where to put them and how big the samples should be.  Any programs that can make samples easy?

how long is it before the jerlyness starts?  If you post like a 50MB (or smaller file) I'd be happy to take a look at it.

Just a small piece of advise on Divx 5-7 if the Swapfile in XP or Vista is not activated and you do a conversion the Vid file wil become very jerky when played back. If downloaded and the person used to covert just using Ram during the conversion process this will cause trouble.  looked at your Sample rates and Mede8er will eat it like JAM as MKV Files uses 5X the bitrate of your files.
You should not use Default (H.263) but H.264 as it is standard conversion for HD and might cause troubles playing back.

Best Regards

@schpat.  I've got a 37mb sample of the one files. The jerjyness starts happening from about 30seconds into the file. How/where can I post the sample file? thanks
@jpapenfus. thanks for the advice. I didn't encode it myself. As for the mkv files. I know. It's working beautifully, even with high ref frames 1080p stuff. No problems. Only with my SD stuff.

By the way, if I play the same file back on my Windows laptop and on my linux laptop, absolutely no problem whatsoever. It has to be a software issue. The hardware already proved itself.
Thanks

Are you using internal or external HDD? Was the HDD formatted by the Mede8er? We are aware of similar problems with Mvix product if the HDD was formatted with "Compression Option Enabled" The HDD must not be compressed.

@Mede8er1
I'm using a 1.5TB Seagate internal HDD with no compression. I never use compression, but I did use it previously in my MVIX Pvr, until I sold it. The HDD was formatted in the MVIX for the first time. I only re-formatted the 300gb that was used by the MVIX afterwards. The avi's are still in the same place where it used to be when I still used my MVIX. It didn't give me any problems then.
