A way to play Youtube on your 500X/400X with use of  an Android phone or Apple iPhone.

Need:
- An Apple iPhone or an Android phone
- app installed on your phone called iMediaShare
- Wifi network

Howto:
- install iMediaShare on your phone
- connect your phone to your wifi home network
- be sure your MED500X/400X is also linked to same network
- start iMediaShare on your phone
- on your Med500X/400X now goto Media Library - Network - Upnp
- In Upnp browse to your phone
- you will see all the streams supplied by iMediaShare
- select Youtube
- use the search function on the iMediaShare app under Youtube to search for desired Youtube videos
- now browse on your Mede8er to the youtube folder under Video in the Upnp tree and select search results
and start the desired youtube video you have added by search on your phone.

Tested with iMediaShare 3.5, Samsung Galaxy S and Samsung Galaxy mini s5570.
Works pretty good.

For more info regarding what is possible with iMediaShare, see: http://www.imediashare.tv/

Also works good with the iPhone (version 3.2)
Not only can you stream YouTube, but also CNET, Engadget, your Facebook pics etc. I can even play my music directly from the iPhone to the Mede8er now!

Only downside is I still have to navigate my phone via the Mede8er, is it possible just to open up a "live" stream on the mede8er so I can send any music to it that I select on my phone? In this case I wouldn't even have to switch on the TV and I get the easier navigation of the iPhone.

BTW, my TV is a 2010 Samsung with internet, which means you can actually stream from the iPhone (using iMediaShare) directly to the TV as well, totally bypassing the Mede8er. The app does list the TV as possible output, not the Mede8er. Could there be a similar solution for the m8r here?

That is not possible with the MED500X as it has no DNLA DMR option.
Pushing media as you described  from your phone to the MED500X2 is however possible as this one has a DNLA DMR option.

Some topic regarding this for the 500X2:

The latter DLNA DMR control is also possible with a Nokia smartphone with Symbian Anna. Download "Nokia Play to" from the beta site and send pictures and music from your phone to your mede8er (x2 generation)  Grin

No need to buy expensive Samsung or iphone products....
