I recently bought a new tv and now ALL the movies have the audio out of sync.
The movie is about 1 second (or half a second) ahead of the audio.

i got the med500x with firmware 4.0.4 INC HD Audio
my tv : Samsung Plasma PS63C7700
I (normally) play all my movies from the intern hd in my mede8er
i use the sound from the tv speakers wich is 2 channel stereo
My mede8er is connected to the tv with a hdmi cable

Now i didnīt have this problem with my previous Pioneer tv and everything connected the excact same way !?
i have done some testing and i tried watching the movie from usb plugged into my mede8er but that gave the same
out of sync problem.
Now i also tried  sticking the usb directly into the tv, as this samsung tv comes with an intern mediaplayer so i can plug
in usb devices and play them with the mediaplayer on the screen.
And tadaaa , the movie was perfect ! image and sound were 100 % sync

As my previous tv had no problems , its easy to say the problem is with my tv, but as mentioned above the problem only
happens when it gets the movie from the mede8er so whats can i do ? i prefer to use the mede8er as the build in mediaplayer is very crappy.

Now i wonder if i should try spdif, but i wonder if spdif is just as good as hdmi ? will i have the same quality sound and image ?  when i would use spdif than i have an audio option on the tv to change the position of the audio to make it sync with the image  (havenīt tried this yet)
Can i use the same firmware that i am using now when i am going to use spdif ? i assume i donīt have hd audio anyways cause i have just 2 channel stereo from my tv

And why does the mede8er not have an option for both spdif and hdmi to delay or speed up the sound to make it sync with the movie ? this should be easy for u guys to build in and a great help for all who have an out of sync problem.

Thanx for all the help, greetings
john

I just wanna ask that is this problem occurs only with movies or even with TV shows or music. if its with all then you should call the vendors they will sort out the problem.

I also have an audio (lip)sync issue. Both via TV (Panasonic VT20) or via receiver (Panasonic SA-XR57). Don't think this is a cable issue because I've tried several. There is an lipsync audio issue for about a second or so when I use the 1080P setting on the mediaplayer. When I change to 1080i, the audio (lip)sync problem is almost gone, with only an audio delay of a few of milliseconds.

Changed the TV to GAME mode (fast visuals) but no improvement. Anyone any ideas on what the problem is? Thanks!

Losing the first 0.5-2.0 second of audio is not the same issue as lip sync. Is your audio truly out of sync, i.e. lagging or preceding, the video?

I do not receive any tv broadcast, i ended my subscription as i don't like all the bull[CENSORED] on tv and i only watch stuff that i download from internet   Grin
This way i am not bothered with commercials and i always see what i want to see !
Anyways, so i don't know if i would have out of sync with tv programs ....
And the music i watch, are trance and hardcore parties and u don't have singing peoples on those video's so i don't know about that either  Roll Eyes

thanx for the tip , i wil try the 1080i setting
But doesn't that mean that when u watch full hd movies , that u won't actually see them HD because of the 1080i setting ?
That would suck ... i hope for a better solution eventually , but i am going to try this because out of sync is VERY annoying.
Thanks  Wink

i don't understand this reply ...he never said anything about losing the first 0,5-2.0 seconds , you just made that up yourself  Huh he is clearly talking about a out on sync problem.

No, because i didn't even use the 24 fps option , and when i did to see if it would do anthing about my audio sync-problem i found out it doesn't .And what i understood from this topic is that after every 42 seconds u would get 1 sec of delay between audio and image. While my out of sync stay the same during the movie, it doesn't get better or worse ...

In my case, I have the med500x (firmware v4.0.4) connected to my Samsung C8000 via HDMI (downmix 2 channel). The med500x is also connected to an Onkyo receiver using SPDIF. I notice that the video on the TV is out of sync with the audio output of the receiver when playing MKV files on the med500x. On the other hand, if audio output is via hdmi 2-ch downmix, audio is in sync with the video.  I don't encounter these out-of-sync issues using a blu-ray player, connected via hdmi for video and analog multi-channel output for surround audio.

What I do to help sync the video output from med500x with the audio from the receiver is adjust the SPDIF delay on the TV to around 200 ms. I turn up the volume on the TV and the receiver and play around with the delay settings until I can hear no echo between the two audio outputs. Maybe audio delay settings can be included on the next firmware release.

It looks like this issue comes with 3D TVs with a HDMI 1.4 in stead of a HDMI 1.3 interface.
If you google around you will find more simular issues with other equipment.

Setting to 1080i mode seems to solve it.

Does that mean that i should have a mediaplayer that comes with a hdmi 1.4 port , connecting the tv and mediaplayer with a 1.4 hdmi cable resulting in no more out of sync audio ?

And please tell me what does it mean when i put my mede8er on the 1080i setting (because i am no so smart on these things  Tongue) is it true what i said before that with that setting i wil not be able to watch full hd ? because full hd is 1080p
In that case i would not considder this option to be satisfying.
I would in that case rather go buy a new mediaplayer with a 1.4 hdmi port !

And also please tell me if using spif will give me lesser quality sound and image , or is it just as good as hdmi
And are u guys planning to build in an audio delay option in a next firmware release

thanx for your time, mr maasbommel  Grin

I suggest you first try 1080i 50hz or 60hz mode.
Just go into mede8er setup and then to the video menu.
Change Video System setting to 1080i 50hz or 60hz and give it a try....

HDMI 1.4 is necessary, but not sufficient. HDMI standards have always been a "buffet" of options. HDMI.ORG have always asked those using HDMI standards to explicitly state the options supported by their equipment. Most ignore that advice and leave potential buyers to make asumptions which may not be true.

So  you need a source which explicitly states it supports Full HD 3D over HDMI 1.4, not just one which has a HDMI 1.4 "interface".

Ok , thanx jer1956 for this usefull info
if i continue to have these out of sync problems , than i might look around for a new mediaplayer

i haven't tried the 1080i option yet , but i wonder why maasbommel isnt answering my other questions ....makes me think he doesn't want to tell me that my med500x is not good anymore for my new tv because it's not hdmi 1.4

oh, and can u already tell me wich mediaplayer does support full HD 3D over HDMI 1.4  ?
does mede8er has such model ?
