Is there a purpose for the volume controls on the RC91 remote as they do not seem to work?

Issue:

Increasing or decreasing the Volume via the remote does not make any difference, except when it is decreased all the way down to +0 then it mutes the sound.

Setup:

MED500X > HDMI > Onkyo 608 > Sony TV

Software: V4.0.4
Compiled at: Mar 01 19:29:30 2011
Bootloader: 0000.0202.1026
Board: 1073DD C+

Thanks

Is that using Passthrough or Downmix? There are those who prefer unprocessed audio to go out and keep asking how to disable the volume control. Most bluray players map their remote volume control to the TV and don't have a volume control of their own.

Also try connecting directly to the TV. V4 uses something called CED-EDID and I wouldnt be surprised if that allows Amps to tell Sources to inhibit their own volume control.

This is normal behaviour when sound is on passthrough and a multichannel media file is played.
