@ Shamus.

mmm... If there is nothing being logged then that might suggest what you said, that no connection is even established. 2 things might be the issue.

1. Networking
Are all your PC's and Mede8er connected to one switch or have you got multiple networking devices interlinked? If you could describe the network between the mede8er and the win 7 machine. Also, if you want, post your IP addresses of your mede8er and your win 7 machine, just to verify they are on the same subnet. I know I had a wierd issue once where my ADSL router/switch and my wireless router/switch (cabled together with wireless running in AP mode) were on 2 different subnets (ADSL 192.168.1.x and wireless 192.168.2.x) and the routing between devices on each switch was flaky.

2. Firewall
The win7 firewall is on by default, and is quite the beast compared to what MS has previously implemented. As a test, turn off the firewall in your services; click start -> type services.msc -> press enter. Search for "Windows Firewall". Right-click it and select "Stop". Try connecting from the Mede8er again. You can start the firewall again by the same process, but just select "Start".

Hi Donuts,
tried turning off firewall but no difference.

My mede8er and all pcs on the network are connected by a 8 port switch. Ip addresses are all assigned manually and all subnet masks are 255.255.255.0. IP addresses are:
mede8er 10.0.0.13
win 7 pc 10.0.0.9
all other pcs are in the range 10.0.0.x
The win7 pc shows up ok on the mede8er
My network is called "network" and this works fine for all the other pcs but just to be sure I have changed the win7 pc to "workgroup" but it made no difference
Cheers

Try ping the Mede8er from the PC:

START > RUN > CMD > OK
   PING 10.0.0.13
