Hi from Germany,

now after having the mede8er one week in use i must say this is a fine piece of technique. Thanks for that!

But now i got a little sound issue.
Sometimes i notice distorting sound playing xvid files with ac3-sound (stream copy from dvd).
Playing same files with an other  player, e.g Ps3, theres no distorting at all. All players are connected via HDMI to a Sharp 46" lcd, the AC3 is downmixed to stereo.
I mentioned this issue after upgrading to FW 1.22a, but have to say i didnt test many files before with 1.21.

Any ideas ?

Regards
Chris

Hello Chris,

Ideally you would also need to give an indication as to the source of the file as this would have a great influence on the end result, i.e. if you are streaming wirelessly, via wired network, NFS, SMB, as well as the full detail of any and all hardware between the source and the Mede8er etc... (cables, routers, switches, wives...)

The more detail the better - please also provide any troubleshooting you have tried so far as well as the results i.e. have you tried placing the file on a flash drive and playing it from there, etc...

If the situation doesn't improve by changing the source of the media file then I would ask that you provide a sample of this movie with the sound issue to the FTP address as discussed here?

Please provide the exact time within the movie that this issue presents itself as well as any necessary steps one would need to take to recreate your issue so that this can be looked into.

Hi Chris

I have tested various source files with downmix active via HDMI to my AMP and I get no distortion at all. The downmix signal is PCM and you can adjust the output volume on the Mede8er remote so I suggest you try to turn the volume down a little and see if this resolves your problem.  The PCM output may well be higher than your PS3 and over driving the TV input. Try this and let me know the outcome.

Wow guys! Thanks for you efforts!!

The source is an external hd (WD elements 1TB) via USB and the player is directly connected to the tv with the provided hdmi cable. The distortion is present for the whole movie.

I did that first, but it didnt work.

I`ll try to extraxt the audio from a file and upload a little part of it  (may take some time... Roll Eyes

Thank you again and best regards

Hi again,

after testing about 50 files (mainly sd xvid with ac3 ,some xvids with mp3 and some 720p h.264 with dts) i have to correct myself.
The distortion comes up with any sound codec but is not present the whole movie,. Its coming and going and its not reproducable with one specific file.
You can stop it by fast forwarding or stopping the play. After that theres no distortion at all. Huh Huh

Anyway, i dont care.. I love my Mede8er. Grin

Thanks for your support

Chris
