Since the WiFi dongle is not yet available I want to know if I can use another 802.11b/g wireless USB adapter?

Other WiFi Dongles are not compatible so please do not waste your time and buy one of these. We are just awaiting ICASA Approval and then plan to have stock in stores end October latest. The Mede8er Dongle is also very well priced compared to other 11n brands.

Hi all.

As to read in this forum the XTreamer Wireless dongle also works with Mede8er as it uses the supported chip.

Has anyone tried this one as it also uses the same chip ?

About 10€ less.

since a few days i got my MED500X, and i like it very much so far.

About Wifi dongle:
i got a free dongle from my ADSL provider, i gave it a try, it is a Thomson TG123G, and it seems to work, but since it is only a 802.11b/g  it works only at 54Mb/s, but it is good enough for me. (using WPA2 code)

This is the datasheet from this adapter:

I can confirm the PlayOn!HD Donge (AC Ryan-product code: ACR-WN10001) works perfectly - it's exactly the same unit, plus there's no branding on it and it's black so it matches the unit.

If you are in the UK, there are still stocks at www.scan.co.uk :

Looks exactly like the picture:

D-Link DWA-131 Wireless N Nano  wireless usb-adabter works nice for me. No need to buy over expensive mede8er wifi dongle.
