Hello,

I currently have the problem, that when I view a picture or also a film with my mede8er and have my lcd tv or my beamer attached via component cable, there are invalid colors (green instead of red). When I attach the lcd tv via hdmi the colors are ok.

I set the mede8er to "pal" and have also switched all other possibilities by the remote control.

The mede8er has version 3.0 Beta1 and a WDC WDC15EADS-22P with 1,5 TB installed.

What can I do, to see the pictures in right color via component cable? (I need this, because my beamer has only this kind of connection.)

Thank you for any help.

Component cables use seperate RCA phono connections marked red, green and blue, though this dosn't mean the same as RGB. You have to make sure both source and sink are using "component". Some devices can be switched between component and RGB.

Thank you @ jet1956.

Shurely it is not the cable and the type of output unit which may be wrong because I have also connected another LCD via another component cable and there I see the same wrong colors. When I connect instead of the media player my sat receiver via component, the colors are ok.

I suppose, the converter within the media player has either a hardware problem or - a software problem.

I do hope, someone from the hardware/software side will give an answer.

If you think its a SW problem: just try another firmware version. You are using V3.0Beta?
I suggest to try an official released one first......

Could be a HW issue, did it ever worked with normal colors?
You already swapped cables and used other output deviced, so only thing you could to is try another fw version to verify if its firmware related or a HW problem.

@ Maasbommel

I have upgraded the firmware first to Version 3.0.4 and checked the result. Then I upgraded the bootloader to version ...26 and the firmware to V4Beta2 compiled at Sept. 19 21:27:11 2010. (Is this the latest, official version?). The board number is 1073DD.

In both cases no change in the colors. When I use the component cable, the red color is shown as green, when I use the hdmi cable, red is red.

What I also tried was, to unplug each of the 3 plugs and watched what happend (I don't know, if this helps):
unplugging the green plug: no picture at all
unplugging the blue plug: picture has no color at all, it is a black and white picture
unplugging the red plug: nothing changes, color picture with wrong color for red.

Any more things, I can check?

Hi pope,

Reading your comment it looks like Red is not working on the RGB cable.
As you say you already have tried another cable, and also connected it to another TV with RGB, giving the same effect, I can only come to the conclusion that your Red output of your mede8er is defect. Otherwise unplugging Red should give another color pattern on your TV.

I suggest to go back to your reseller to get your Mede8er checked/repaired or exchanged under warranty.

Hi all,

Am having the same color problems with my med500x, FW Ver4.04, 1.5TB WDC on Philips 32" LCD. The LCD TV is an old model and doesnt have hdmi just dvi but I use component cable for video.

This wasnt always the case though. I've had my Med for a little over 2 years now (paired with the same LCD) and had no such problems. However recently  I got a samsung plasma and tried to med500x. Worked like a charm via hdmi.

When i transferred it back  to the old plasma, that's when i have problems with the color. Video and photos are yellowish in color. Tried 3 different sets of cables, and both Component Video ports on the LCD TV.. Also tried resetting the med to factory settings..still the same.

Am not worried it may be a HW problem. Any way to check if the CV ports on the med are faulty?

Help please.. thanks

Could be a color space problem after connecting by HDMI. If there is such data creating an issue then re-installing the firmware might clear it.
