Hi
My 2TB has run out of disc space in the internal HDD, so I'm thinking of byuing a NAS. The one I'm look at right now is Synology Disk Station DS410J.
It has
External HDD Interface: USB 2.0 port X2
LAN: Gigabit, Wireless: With Adapter
I guess my only option is to connect the mede8er to the LAN and from there connect to the NAS.
My questoin is, how can I be sure that the mede8er will find it? Do I have to look for some support like dlna.
Is there another NAS that someone would recommend that when running raid5 can get atelast 4TB (3*2TB)
It would be nice if I could connect it directly to the mede8er using USB

thanks for any input

/Niklas

You can access a Synology NAS from Mede8er by Samba connection (Network entry selection), NFS and Upnp.

Al these protocols are available on a Synology NAS.

Connecting the NAS by usb to your mede8er will not work.
Those usb ports on the NAS are used to connect external usb disks to for backup or extending storage.

Actually, you CAN connect the Mede8er to your NAS by USB.
But you have to use the Host USB. With that you can transfer large files a bit faster, than through your network. But you cannot use the mede8er when connected to a NAS with the Host USB.

Agree, but I think that is not the solution Niklas is searching for when asking possibility to connect by usb to mede8er.
