As the title says, can you guys with a working NAS solution please post your NAS models.

I would like to buy a NAS solution, but am not sure which way to go.

I have a Win7 64bit PC as well as a Mede8er which will need to access the NAS.

Hope that this is not too much of an open ended question

Regards

I can say my MED500X has worked just fine with a Thecus N5200BR Pro and a Thecus N7700.

I have a nas that is connected to a wireless router which in turn is connected to my mede8er.  I run it using the network feature in the media library and set it up where i use the IP address and user name and password for the nas.  It works fine.  It really depends on the capability of your nas.  You might need to fix an IP address on your nas for you to connect directly to your mede8er.

I would appreciate hearing from others who connect their nas directly via ethernet to their mede8er and what kind of cables and set up do they have.

I am using a synology NAS (see my footer) connected to a netgear 1gb router by cable.
Jumbo frames off set to off in the config. Nas on fixed ip.

2 mede8ers connected to my network, one connected by lan cable, the other by wifi using a Linksys wifi to ethernet bridge (see my footer) to get better bandwith then with the standard mede8er dongle.

Both mede8ers play from my nas using NFS, Samba and Upnp connection.
All media plays fine, inclusive 1080p mkv material.

Original Blueray movies (large ones > 40gb) in original bdmv structure sometimes stutter.
This is because off the limitation of NFS rsize window (8k) on my NAS, which cannot be adjusted at the moment (Synology uses a fixed setting for ot).
So this ones I put and play from internal disk or usb disk.
On my NAS only dvd structure VIDEO_TS DVDs and mkv movies, and ofcourse music and pictures.
All play very well.
