Hello,

I just got min Mede8er a few day ago.
I first wanted to update the firmware, but there was a problem:
After the latest firmware wa on my USB stick I followed the procedure as described with the firmware:
I put the USB in , restarted, but after 10-15 sec power button release there was no flashing blue and red light!
The mede8er didn't update, and didn't restart. I just keep seeing the logo of Mede8er.
And now it wont start and i don't get the menu !!!
What can I do to correct this. Is there a reset action or something?
anyone...

With a new fresh downloaded fw in root of your pen drive, connect that stick to M8R and unplug power source ...
Wait 5 sec and plug the power back and press and hold power button for 10 sec them release it... Upgrading process should start. After message upgrade is complete just wait for M8R it will take a self restart, after that it will be better to shutdown and unplug again and wait for 5 sec . Now you can start M8R and make your settings and enjoy.
Advice: during upgrading process is better to use composite cable and after that switch to hdmi

If the advise of Tachita is not working:
- reformat your flash drive fully fat32
- place .img firmware file in the root of the stick (so be sure you have unpacked the zip or rar file)
- reload again by using the procedure Tachita mentioned

If still not working; try another usb stick

After I followed the first 2 steps, there isn't a flashing blue and ed light!
I waited for at least 30 min. No update from my USB drive.
I formated with FAT 32, fresh file in root.
Is it possible that the USB  host port isn't working?

Is there a reset to factory settings possibility?

Anyone some other options?

thanks

In theory it is possible that the usb port is defective, but in most occasions it is something with the usb stick.

Please read this:
http://www.mede8erforum.com/index.php/topic,46.0.html

And look at the remarks regarding usb sticks.

What type (Brand/size) stick are you using?
Have you tried another one?
Did you redownload the firmware here from the site again?
The problems you see look like a corrupted firmware file or problems with usb stick and therefore unable to update using recovery mode.

The method to do a factory defaults is by loading new firmware using this procedure.

Succes!

I used a different USB stick (4GB).
Latest firmware I allready had.
Maybe I didn't hold the power button long enough. Now I kept the button pressed (> 10 sec!) untill the tv screen changed and the update progress was shown.

Now I can start using the mede8er!! Smiley

Thanks for all the advise.
