I've posted before about the picture shaking on 1080p 60hz.  After updating to 3.04 final, I get no display at all on 1080p 60hz.
Also, after every firmware update, fewer and fewer of my files play (invalid file, mkv playing as a song that I don't even recognise even though it's a 11gb movie rip! etc).
I've updated using the emergency recovery procedure, and even tried the e2fsck route, all to no avail.
It really does seem as if the Mede8er is getting more and more corrupted with every firmware update.
Is there any way to format partitions on the disk without wiping the data partition?  I've got 1.5tb of data on there that I really don't have space (or time) to copy.
I'd like to install 3.04 to a fresh partition.

Firmware isn't an operating system. It's more like a PC bios. Youy can only have one and it has to replace the current one.

When you have upgraded did you use the Return to Default option in the System menu? I always use this option even  when upgrading a PC bios. The upgrade process can lead to "old" data being used by new firmware.

Hi Sarje,

The mede8er internal disk will have 3 partitions when it is formatted from mede8er setup:
- one NTFS partition
- one linux partion
- one swap partitions

If you have the impression that the NTFS partition is somehow corrupt: connect your mede8er to your pc by usb cable and run chkdsk /f to repair this

If you have the impression the root partition is corrupt somehow, telnet into your mede8er and use e2fsck on the root linux partition

If you have the impression your firmware is corrupt: redownload 3.0.4 and reinstall using recovery update mode (unplug power before and after the update). Don't restore old setup, but set all setup manually.

If that doesn't help and you want to do a fresh install, backup your NTFS partition with your media on it, do a wipe of the complete disk (remove all partitions first, see mede8er beginners guide for the howto).

There is no way to reformat the data partition without loosing data, but that the same for every Operating system... You need to backup, reformat and then restore the data.

Are overreacting? If you not, it look like you do...

About less played files and your mkv, is it written in many topics that are some issues with certains codecs by SDK build.
With player instability ...could be many other reasons.
Try v2.0.2 fw and see if unplayable files are back.

I'm certainly not overreacting.
In all other v3 revisions (including Beta 3.04), 1080p was functioning (allbeit shaky).  Now it shows no picture on that setting.  Reverting to other V3 releases leads me to believe that there's something left over from the firmware as the problem is still there.  I'm using the recovery procedure for update, so it should be clean.
The problem with the mkvs could well be a SDK issue, but also, reverting to previous V3 releases (which did play the files) leaves the same issue.
I'm very technically competent and had already tried checking the Linux and NTFS partitions - all which appear fine.
This would also not explain the 1080p issue.
