I have a flv file that will not play it just comes back as invalid file

I can understand your frustration but please search the forum first. Hardware mediaplyers only support a finite number of codecs. The main website lists what those are, and VP6 isn't  one of them.

Did you buy "assuming" it had the flexibility of a PC?

You could always convert the file to a supported format first. I think (not 100% sure) that Handbrake can do this, perhaps another community user could confirm.

There is always a way to convert everything if you search  hard enough. Those who knew they where going to have to  do that seem to be more satisifed with mediaplyers than those who expect them to play everything they can play on a PC. I'm not sure if that  disappointment is ever overcome. The med500 becomes another brick in the wall of rarely used equipment sitting under the TV!
