Very pleased with many of the changes in the v3 release.  I've been playing around with it, and can't seem to get the "watched" file indicator to work.  I have it turned on in the "misc" menu, and when I browse to a file and hit "menu" it has at the bottom the "eye" and a check mark next to it.  I move down to this menu choice and hit enter - it closes the menu and drops me back to the folder - but no indicator next to the file name (as the docs indicated it should be).  I also opened a movie and let it run half way through - still no watched indicator showing up after I quit the movie.

Ideas?

Thanks.

Do you watch video file on the internal HDD, USB or over network. If it's over network maybe Mede8er don't have writing rights to write down appropriate *.t file which indicates that the video file is watched.

That could be it.  I did watch the movie over my network off of a NAS.  The vast majority of my media is streamed over the network (I've got 6TB of music and movies).

The question would then be (since I did not receive any error indications) - how do I confirm that this is the issue?  Once I'm able to confirm it, then the question is - what permission changes to I need to make to allw the Mede8er access?

Can you elaborate on the "*.t" file you mentioned?  What is written to the folder?

Thx - Keith

A "~.t" file is written to the movie source folder to indicate that the movie has been watched - you need write permissions in order to allow the Mede8er to do so.
Create a network 'shortcut' with User Name and Password with such write permissions in order to allow this functionality.

Thanks.  I did a couple of tests and confirmed that the problem was indeed write access.  I had already created a shortcut to test it out - and confirmed that it worked when logged in through the shortcut.  Unfortunately, it takes a bit of time for the Mede8er to establish the login through a shortcut.  Two questions:

- Is there any way to speed this up?
- Is there any way to drill further into my NAS (folder stack) to make up for the extended access time.  If, instead of just logging in, I could specify a folder path along with the login credentials - it would eliminate the navigation time it normally takes to reach my movie folders and make up for the extended login wait.

Thanks - Keith.

Hi dindale,

I don't know what kind of NAS you are using, but on my synology I solved this as follows:
- I created shared folders on my NAS with the names: Video, Music, Photo
- then turn NFS on on this shares
- now use your mede8er with NFS to connect to this shares: faster and it gives one level less. You just create a shortcut per folder you created on your NAS

I'm running a WHS - which doesn't have an elegant NFS solution. I have set it up previously (to see if it works) but it was buggy and I eventually tore it out.

I appreciate the suggestion. I will play around with things and see what I can come up with.
